This works well, but if you have your parts monger get ahold of your FAD they should be able to get you the Motorcraft pigtail Identification book. http://www.motorcraft.com/pdf/Wiring_Pigtails_Illustration_Guide.pdf

MIL caused by a-market air fiters? SSM? Can't find it. 6.4L
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to Aaron's topic in FSA - TSB - SSM
Quote: The customer went ahead with the modifications because our dealer principal told him he could. If the customer was smart he would have gotten this in writing from your D/P. If the D/P stands by his word you can bet your store just married this guy. If the mods cause any problems or warranty kick backs your D/P is responsible being the fact he "Told" the customer it was okay to do them. -

Quote: They make the standard statement that tank failures are caused by the fuel and that they will not cover the failure Obviously Ford hasn't seen the wide spread failures as we have. This reminds me...Back at the Honda dealer we had the 80-83 Accords 84-85 Accords 86-89 Accords all the different design changes have fuel contamination issues, At first Hondas stance on this was because we were in the Salt belt and the filler necks were rusting out and not a defect. Pretty amazing how it turned into a recall on the filler necks and Honda fixing the fuel contaminations as well. It spread a little further into the Civic line as well as the Preludes. Eventually I believe Ford will have to do something similar about this situation. All I can say is keep a eye on the pricing from Ford, when it nose-dives be ready for something to be announced. Remember the CMP's the price dropped like a brick before they announced the campaign.

2006 lcf coolant mixing with oil
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to robp823's topic in 4.5L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Quote: 06B40 - In some of the affected vehicles, the engine crankcase ventilation system could form sludge and moisture that may freeze at temperatures below 20 degrees F. This could potentially create a blockage in the crankcase ventilation system that could create an engine oil consumption concern. I remember the update for these real good, The first batch of LCF's we got in had the old breather setup on them. They would accumulate moisture and freeze and in worst cases the engine would run away and grenade. We replaced a couple of engines for this. The funny thing about this is that the customer that owned these trucks was Isuzu and they were doing testing on them. Isuzu actually inquired about the breathers on these and wanted to get this set up to test, needless to say they changed their minds rather quickly. Not to mention parts weren't available at the time. -
If you really are going to get into the repairs of the Cummins, do yourself a favor and subscribe to Cummins Quick-Serve Online, it's ESN driven and has parts, service and all the current most up to date info not to mention has the special tool info that you will need. It is a really good tool for your shop to use. Your manager or D/P may be doubtful about doing it because of the cost for the yearly subscription but trust me you will save yourself alot of time and headache.

Is the Ford dealer willing to work with you? If not I see that your in Utah, Your closest Cummins Distributor is Cummins Rocky Mountain in Salt Lake City 800-851-4317. They should be able to assist you with the tools you will need.

6C3Z9002E, But I am hearing the same thing about a possible new #, as a matter of fact I need one myself. Aha, New # 6C3Z9002F But no one shows it on the locator, I heard from Motor City Ford that it comes from the West coast, Rick also told me that Ford has not loaded the # yet.

Quote: One of our techs has had a 2005 6.6 Durajunk diesel torn apart for head gaskets since before the new year. Parts backordered, possibly here tomorrow. The $300 gasket set doesn't even include new head bolts. Be careful on the head gaskets. There is 3 different grades on the gaskets, be sure that you lay the old ones side by side to the new ones and make sure everything is the same, all the holes all the slots, everything!!!!

Quote: If you glow the center and hit the O2 for JUST the right amount of time Fire wrench best tool ever invented /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/flamethrower.gif Just kidding, but it does work we get some pretty messed up turbos after people have tried to disassemble themselves and broke bolts, Heat with a finish of O2 pretty much gets rid of the offending bolt, you may want to use a tap and clean up the threads afterwards.

HPOP Oil Change
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to Keith Browning's topic in 7.3L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I guess we will be hearing Jim call the whole lot of them Wieners. Maybe we can suggest that they need to change the air in their tires each time the weather changes, Summer Air, Fall Air, Winter Air, Spring Air. Makes about as much sense as they are with those posts. -
Figured this would be a good topic... Had a customer come in today to pickup his Audi Turbo, Of course what was he driving but a 05 F350 6.0. He asked about the tuners that we sell, I responded with the obvious questions being the person I am. Any mods done to the truck, what do you use it for and the such, basically trying to see what he was looking for...Needless to say, nothing done to the truck uses it for work and trying to get more mileage out of it. Had to use some of the old things already said here, I think... My take on tuners...If you buy one why not buy it all,Intake system, exhaust and tuner. (I pretty much blew him out of the water by the time it added up) The best thing that turned him off was that the Superchip DOES NOT GET ANY BETTER MPG'S just more power. Not to mention I clued him in on what's to come if he does install all these goodies. The head studs and EGR and Cooler and Turbo cost pretty much changed his mind, then he brought up changing out the trans. fluid with some A/M stuff. I put the stop to that pretty quick, and informed him that he was better off to stay with the Mercon/SP and change out the filters than taking a chance down the road with something else. He has 70K miles on it and had no problems, I asked why he wanted to change it and of course fuel price came up. So in a nut shell I killed a sale because he didn't need it he was told by "friends" to get it. Hopefully he comes back when he need something for his truck and I will help him, but I think I helped him more today.

Quote: But way back in partsguy skool, they told us that a part needs to be sold at 14-16% over to break even, after all accounts. I think some managers-especially the old-timers- still hang on to that theory, unfortunately. With all all of the web billing and easier ways of doing business 14-16% is out of date and incorrect. About 70-75% of our vendors are doing the monthly billing thru the net and have reduced cost substantially, anyone telling you differently is probably blowing smoke up your ass. With the electronic age among us everything has become just a click away. I can't say how much it costs for sure but 10% seems pretty affordable for the companies doing it. If you guys need it call me or PM me and I will hook you up with numerous dealers that will give you Cost +10. Cat, Cummins, Detroit, Ford. I'll try to get you the best price and guy's you can trust to deal with.
