  1. Not sure on the A/C issue; possible harness- depending on how much of harness was unplugged to remove intake. Compressor plug not seated all the way if it was unplugged, or pinched up near the right valve cover ??? Does the noise sound like a high pitched whistle ? Possibly the metal gasket between the egr cooler and RH uppipe vibrating under load if they are not seated together ??
  2. We still get a fair number of these through our doors. No powerhouse, but they are pretty reliable. We still even have a couple of 2 stroke Detroit's that come in every so often !
  3. Bacterial Meningitis. Slow road to recovery, lost almost all my hearing as a result. Thankfully I work for a great dealer, with great benefits. I literally had to put my life in a 6.0 ambulance, thankfully it didn't break down !!
  4. I was supposed to start Cummins training, as our Cummins guy got a job with the city. Unfortunately, I have been off work since Christmas, so one of the other tech's got nominated !
  5. Have done a couple this way, all in all not that bad of a job. I removed the front 2 body mount bolts, and was able to lift the front of the cab up enough to twist and turn the motor out. Good luck !!
  6. Gee thanks Alex ! Somehow I think that will be more for me, although I don't blame you one bit. Our lot is starting to look like a damn TTC yard; too bad they don't pay like one ! I can't keep up with our regular work, let alone these nightmares ! I'm jealous if you don't get any more !
  7. Alex, just finished the exact job on one of those fine units. I pulled the turbo, jacked up the front of the cab; not a bad job at all.
  8. 5 6.4 TTC Friendly Buses; Alex and Mike you know the ones; 2 for HPP, a 6.7 for a turbo, 1 with a solid knock down below, and 1 with a dead miss and fuel dripping from the exhaust. I am starting to think that I work for Toronto Transit, and commute back and forth to Kingston every day ! On a more level playing field, 2 trucks for Def pumps, a 6.0 for head gaskets, 2 6.0 long cranks, and a vintage 6.9 that runs rough !!
  9. I worked with a guy years ago; he loved those type of people. He used to say, " ever since just cost you .5 " !
  10. Finished up 2 E 450 6.0 engine jobs. 2007 F450 in the process of being torn down to find the cause of glitter in the oil, 2008 F450 coming in Monday for a growing oil concern. 2 LCF's coming in for injector concerns, clutch job in a Sterling dump truck, and a Freightliner needing an entire fuel system in a DD15 for metal contamination. More overtime for the next couple of weeks !!
  11. Must be my lucky week, 2 E boxes with ESP got approval for engines in the same day ! They must feel sorry for me !
  12. I found a couple of Canadian dealers that show 1 each in stock. I forgot the sheet at work though with the names and phone numbers. If you are interested, let me know and i can email you the names and numbers.
  13. I coat them liberally with oil and slowly work them into place. Knock on wood, I have never had one leak.
  14. I have a "Star" brand fuel pressure tester, and use adapter TU - 32-27 for the 6.0. It threads into the secondary housing. Works good for a quick check of pressure. http://www.tooldiscounter.com/ItemDispla...;kw=STATU-32-27
  15. I have had a couple of Snap On boxes. My present one is 11 yrs old, and I was looking at upgrading recently and was offered $800 less on a trade in than what I paid for it. They are very expensive; but you get what you pay for, and they hold their value like no others do. It all comes down to what you want in a box, and how much you are willing to spend. Just my 2 bits !
  16. engine harness ? common area that causes problems; way too much wiring crammed into one spot under the turbo inlet pipe.
  17. Classic "smoke and mirrors", got bit with that one myself. Left them stuttering when I told them; I can play the game, just tell me the rules before we start !
  18. Verify maitenance. Have had a couple lately come in with low oil pressure on the guage at idle when warm. Drain the black water from the pan, put oil in, no more pressure problems. customer says " well it has been awhile, didn't think it was that critical."
  19. Glad you and you're family made it away safely; and everyone else too.
  20. What you need is some of the rain we have here; would put a damper on any fire. Best of luck, and hope all your friends and family stay safe.
