  1. I pulled the inner fender to inspect the module and connector. No issues that I could see. I armed myself will all the tools needed and drove it home last night in hopes I could duplicate it, just my luck it ran flawless.....Bad part is the customer is getting ready for a 1k mile roadtrip while towing a jeep in about 2 weeks....
  2. I would be checking for wire chafes on that harness then. idle it in your bay and pull, twist, yank etc on that harness and see if you can get it to act up. I find alot of times pushing down on the section that runs accross the intake is cause. When stuff grounds out it does some screw ball stuff
  3. remember the new programming has added a force limit power if the WIF light comes on....thats not what your feeling is it? also check that engine harness for chafes. pretty common on a 2004
  4. REDUCTANT HEATER C CONTROL PERFORMANCE This wonderful little gem is a interm fault. At 400miles the GPCM was replaced for the exact same code. Now the truck as 23k on it and its setting the same code. I have checked both the fuse and relay along with the pins for both and found no issues. I cleared and re-drove it and got it to come back, however I swapped relays around and could not get it to come back. Thinking I got lucky I swapped back to the way it was and same result. Can not duplicate. Have any of you guys been replacing the GPCM for this issue? repeat failures of the GPCM? after all the 6.0/6.4 gpcm was not the greatest. Known wire chafe areas? I am going to try and park outside for a while to heat the vehicle up (ambient is over 105degrees today) yesterday it was the same and vehicle had sat outside for a few hours and set the MIL and force limit power in the same weather.
  5. With the risk of starting a whole other debate on the subject I feel its my RIGHT to be able to carry a gun if I so desire. I feel its a valid self defense method for if the need ever presented itself. I hope I never need to actually use it for that purpose but its there in case I need. Think of it as having the proper tool for the job. Just remember no amount of laws will keep the bad guy from arming himself and commiting a crime. Obviously they are not going to abide by the law in the first place. I live in a very good community but that does not mean its 100% safe. I also travel to the desert often and I have come across some wacked out people out there in the middle of no where. I do not want to be out there unarmed! Also I love to go out and target shoot/hunt. Its a blast and with arizona having lighter restrictions I can have pretty much anything I want which makes this state great. Its a great hobby.
  6. I am searching for the trim panel on the dash that would house the allison push button control unit, air brake park brake switch etc. I need the one that would be in a manual trans truck with airbrakes. I have tryed ordering it twice and it ended up being wrong both times. A number would be nice trying to find a picture but google is being retarded.
  7. No other state like it!!! reasons for these swat vehicles?? With such a high influx of illiegals we have one of the highest car jacking/home invasions rates in the US they get put to use. Also I dont know what the percentage of people that carry a gun but its ALOT. I typically have 2 on or very close to me at all times
  8. The local police swat team vehicle and its purpose is to give bad guys a bad day. complete with battering ram attachments, second floor lift to shove through a window and pretty much bullet proof. All the body panels around the cab are 1/2" or greater steel plate. The hood and fenders are all 1/4" plate. Windows are 1" thick ballistic glass. Its a tank.
  9. This flips my switch everytime....They love to pull the "the other guy does not claim that op" card when you try and make every .1 you can. my response is always so who says they that the other guy is even doing his job right in the first place? Why take his example and not review what I am doing and why I am asking for more time? oh yeah I forgot cause you can not actually do your job right in the first place!!! Instant pissed off! Like you I know the SLTS book and its overlaps well and squeeze every second of time I can out of it. It seems dealers really forget that if your doing your job right looking up times your making THEM MORE money!
  10. This makes me shiver...thank god its just a 11b23 and not a engine repair but its only a matter of time. Yes its a 6.4
  11. yep had a few of these as well for several reasons. The main one always seems to be a coolant leak(radiator, hose etc) causing a low coolant level thus causing internal cooler leaks, keep on driving it and presto bent rod, broke piston or other major issues. I feel so sorry for anyone that owns a 6.4 and decides against the warranty.
  12. 100% agree with you keith and yes I explained to them about the capacity concerns. they fail to realize everything holds oil, oil cooler, oil rails, injectors, pump etc. A totally dry motor like a short block repair is going to use more oil then say just a LOF. They tryed to trick me by calling and asking how much oil does a 6.0 hold. I ask for a LOF? The reply was yes. I responded with 15-15.5qts. Later come to find out when this issue of a kicked claim came about it was "you said it takes 15 but now your saying you needed 17 for this repair so why did you over charge on oil??" READ the Fn TSB already! Its really getting old having to prove my decisions on a repair time and time again just to get paid from a job that probably is already under paid to begin with. Where does it end?
  13. We are getting nailed on fluids now too. I had to seriously argue with management about why I needed so much oil and coolant! REALLY!!!? So I have to rewrite the WSM for each repair? common I dont have time for that BS! It should be a given if your doing engine work you need engine oil and coolant. We are now being told to reuse coolant AND oil or charge the customer for it! yeah um...not happening. I can see coolant to a degree but engine oil?? If that was my truck and I found out someone put the same oil in it after a engine repair I would be ticked....
  14. I just ran into one of these about two weeks ago. It kicked my ass trying to find
  15. Ive had a couple of these too. They where related to crankshaft end play being excessive
  16. The owner of that tool/site called our service manager to try and sell us some of these. He called all of use in his office and showed us the video to see if it was worth while. I thought it was a joke and the guy in the vid made it sound like it was the best idea on the planet. I laughed my ass off. Obviously he has not done many 6.0s as most of use already know how to do this without too much headache. I use a snap on ratcheting belt tool(I think it was like 40-50bucks retail) and it can be used for many other vehicles too. Why buy a tool that is specific to one vehicle when another tool works better IMO and can use it on other vehicles too? Seems a bit more practical to me. Plus that video is staged. He already has the cable off, the bolts had to be loose as that screw gun would not have broke them loose then he proceeds to brag about it taking 1min to change. Plus can you imagine a customer seeing that? coming in and being pissed about paying book time for a alternator? I can see it now "well I saw a video on youtube where it only took 1min to change, why are you charging me X amount of hours"
  17. I really hate oil contamination jobs, such a huge pita to get all that oil from the coolant system
  18. Ive had one due to a turbo taking a crap, was in for something unrelated and took it out back and it ran off. I had it in park thank god. I got out and watched it blow itself up. I was hoping for something cool to launch out the hood but never happened. It has some mean looking smoke comeing from the tailpipe and set the glow plug harness on fire. needless to say that was a huge pita after the fact
  19. Now why in the hell is it a standard and not a metric???
  20. yeah Ive had this happen too when it gets driven alot on a junk headgasket. I argued with ford for days over replacement of one of these when you had to have piror approval. They wanted to reuse the damn thing telling me it was normal. It was far from normal and would have just leaked again down the road. We stock several heads and lots of HG kits. everything has been backordered it seems
  21. I finally got mine after about 3 weeks. customer was PISSED! 90k truck sitting in the shop not making money down for a lousy water pump leak. neilly what was the deal with yours? leaking? other concern?
  22. that shift light come one waaaay to late. just before that motor vented itself all over the dyno
  23. no shit. I cant count how many ficms Ive had that cause a no start
  24. I have a classic from years ago that I have not forgot. It was a 01-02 7.3 that had zero power and would idle ok, no misfires, white/blue smoke from the pipe. Runs just like its got gas in the tank. first thing I check...nope. 1/2 tank of clean diesel. all the basics check out and it should be running fine. just cant get it out of my head that it has to be a fuel contamination that killed all 8 injectors. Go to the customer to ask what type of fuel was being used and if he ever put gasoline in it by accident. He got really defensive could tell he was BSin me and he wanted it fixed under warranty. I was sold on it having gas run through it but I couldnt prove it. I dug around the console and found a receipt for 30 gallons of gas from a small town between phx and yuma. The truck was a mess like he just got back from somewhere offroad. Had the foreman bring up his reciept and talk with the customer. finally admited that he put about 1/2 a tank in before he stopped then put diesel in. Figured it would be ok and drove from yuma to phx towing 5th wheel which is about a 3 hr drive. He ran all the fuel through the tank then put fresh fuel in it which is when I got ahold of it. Sold him 8 injectors and ran like a champ. However I wasted a bunch of my time and the customers time without the correct information up front and he still ended up with the bill.
