  1. none of mine have had that either. really dont think their was ever a use for them in the first place
  2. yup these suck, we do alot of them due to the heat here in az. the ambos sit and run all day and they just bake harnesses!! tapping the pins on the cam wiring works well.
  3. the y-pipe comes right out with the turbo out and remove the ficm along with the rear bracket. just take care not to bend it
  4. this thing is waaaaaaaaay slow every since that update. for some reason that new download manager takes forever to do its thing
  5. well this on is resolved....management got involved and had me pull the engine so "they" could look at it. at this point any decision making I can make is out of my hands. They had me throw a bunch of parts at it. gerotor, oil cooler, standtubes, hpop o-rings and put it back together. some how, some way its fixed, for how long I dont know and I got paid a whole 12hours(slts on customer pay anyone?!?) for all of that(I had a good 2+days messing around listening to what I was told after the engine was out) along with not being credited to actually fixing it on the bright side its out of my stall only to be filled with another basket case
  6. thanks for the insite, I did this right away too since it was my exact thoughts. you guys really dont want to know the direction this job has taken as of late....
  7. 100+ range if I remember correctly. Im trying to remember what the hell I did to fix that truck. Its been a couple years since I had that winner
  8. Ive had a few of these as well. We did have one problem child that just refused to still leak however. ended up replacing 4 or 5 of them then found the oil pressure was way high
  9. so cover pulled and that ball is still in its home.... Im running out of options and of course this has to be a customer pay job.....
  10. we do it all through pts, no phone calls. you can update your request typically to add additional parts.
  11. pump measures .005" no damage to speak of on the gear or cover. some scratches on the cover but cant really catch a nail. dont think this is my issue. next on the list is pulling the cover to the hpop
  12. I do this almost always as well. most of the time if we have a venter it has a blown egr cooler from the result of a junk headgasket. I can typically find a customer pay cooler laying around somewhere to go back in the warranty bin...wait did i say that out loud?
  13. is this the same on both styles of pumps? 03-04 then 05+? I am having a hard start when cold too but its not too bad, dont think its related to oil pressure but.....
  14. bruce hit the nail on the head. I did that for about 20mins on my turbo, yanked it out real quick and swapped the CHRA and slapped it back together. got a case of beer out of it and a very satisifed customer(cp as well) too which made the hassle worth while.
  15. looks like I have approval to tear it apart and check the pump. Ill keep you guys updated what i find.
  16. That was my first question and Ill be damned if I can get a straight answer from my advisor or the customer...from the sounds of it it was after. they assure me they used 15w40 but your guess is as good as mine. so I cold started it this morning. 15psi idle and 55-60psi high idle.
  17. the best was having to change a turbo on a 6.0 after the customer drive 40miles to get here in 115degree weather. oh and he was a waiter at 3pm and needed it by 5pm needless to say I got it done
  18. thats what I thought would happen if that ball fell out too bruce. this is an early 04 has which has the 03 style pump. the complant is oil pressure guage falls to 0 and check guage light comes on when at idle. once driving guage reads normal again or if engine rpms are increased. I do know its a on off switch and has no bearing on what actual pressure is. This is why I have verifyed low base pressure by installing my manual guage(first step I did) and getting a 6-7psi reading at idle and 45psi at high idle.
  19. manual gauge of course(thats how I have actual psi readings). however the dash does follow my readings. no repairs that Im aware of. this was my concern as well if it had a stc failure or injector causing debris in the gerotor. Im waiting on a call back from the customer for more info. when its started(the oil has just been changed wondering what the grade is) and if its had any past repairs at another shop since nothing is in our system or oasis. Im also waiting til it cools to see if temp affects it
  20. only at idle. 6-7psi until your raise the rpms then will build 45-50psi. customer just changed engine oil and filter. ford filter used. standtube and drainback are not broke. pressure regulator looks good. Im thinking gerotor/front cover issues. however no past repairs that i can see. truck as 150k miles Am I on track here? Ive typically only get the all or nothing low pressure issues. this one being a CP job makes it a slippery slope to start taking parts off to diag.
  21. yup very common on those 03s. they will keep blowing up until you replace the front cover and pump to the later style. i just had a thread on this not too long ago with part numbers
  22. kinda a pain in the ass but possible. i remember back in 03-04 when they all would leak. made some cash as the manual said remove the intake and we found out we could snake it out without doing all that crap...ah the good ol days!
