6.0 HEAD TO BLOCK STEP DOWN DOWELS
DieselD replied to OHNO60's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
damn I knew I should have wrote that part number down. yes you can but better have a good parts guy to find them. I have a set sitting here in my box -
yeah I noticed this too. I had a 250 with a raditor leak around 3k miles. I got the truck back around 19k with another rad leak, same place! that was before the update was released. post repair roadtest at 19k miles I was impressed with the power over the first time with low mileage. I wouldnt mind having one but damn they are so damn ugly and expensive. I got a line on a 00 250 crew cab with a 7.3 with 100k miles for 15k. A few power mods and it would be a runner. no 6.0 but also not too many worrys either.

check your fuel quality and cetane rating. higher than ultra low sulfer fuels will cause repeat egr failures
-
had a cavitation issue on a 6.0 once. from what Ive heard its caused by a low coolant concern or improper cooling system maintance.

there is a cab on procedure in the WSM when body R+I is not possible. Better shoot yourself in the foot now. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif

I had an 03 with the same graph even after replacing the sensor and connector for oil contamination which repaired the vehicle. I know the 04 and later trucks dont have that much hash

Yes there is a wireless option coming now. We discussed it on our masters cruise in sept. It was already out in dealer pilots and some had experence with it. From what was said it was the best thing since sliced bread. At the time they where talking about being released soon and about 300bones.

4 LCFs, 2 of which need turbos. one needs an IPR and the other needing a glow plug relay. also have a 450 that needed at front pump seal. Its been hit and miss with work. sorta busy but not buried. this week is starting slow

yup that was my fear. When posting I really already had my own answer but wanted to see if there was any other lucky souls that have run into this. Shortly after my post I pulled the glow plug only to find it smashed to peices. Something has come apart and done some serious damage. No sense is pulling the head really since I already know its going to need an engine. Its customer pay so Im going to have to sell it. I will probably pull the head once its out just since Im curious as what the deal was. I have a feeling this thing was driven as it was overfueling and caused the failure.

04 F350 6.0 with 123kmiles. concern is engine started missing and running rough then stalled and would not restart. when I get it it will not crank, engine is hydrolocked. Has contribution codes for cylinder 4 and 8. looking under the truck there is a puddle of fuel coming from the left exhuast manifold. Suspect injector stuck open and its hydrolocked from fuel. remove the vavle cover and injector 8 is jacked. the screen on the injector for the fuel inlet is gone. I assume this is the cause. I check torque on the rest of the bank and find #4 to be loose, or so I think. I sell 2 injectors. Replace 8 and move on to 4. I loosed the hold down, no remember the bolt was loose. As I am loosing the bolt gets harder to turn like when its poping the injector out except it not right. I stop and look further. the hold down is not coming up like it should but the bolt is. Ok so the hold down clip is screwed. figure I grab a small pry bar and ever so gently pop the injector out. little by little I step up pry bars and force used. I am not beating on this thing and cannot get it out of the hole. I have a feeling this gravey customer pay job just turned into a steaming pile of poo. so what the hell is going on? why in the world would this thing be stuck so hard in the hole it will not come out? I fear engine damage???

We just switched to hourly for several reasons but we are also truck shop. We deal with alot of crap that you just cant make flat rate on. There are pros and cons to each and working on both flat rate and hourly the both can be good. Not sure which one I like better but with work being spread thin here in AZ its nice to have a stable paycheck

Just make sure you run a hose that is rated more than a shop hose like some of the guys here like to use...... I stand far far away and duck

I have had 3 or 4 of these recently. I have replaced either a set of heads or even just one depending on what side is leaking. Its pretty simple to narrow down what head it is. remove the t-stat and pressurize the fuel line going to each head seperatly and watch for bubbles, liquid flow in the front cover. make sure to not drain the coolant level all the way. you want to have the front cover full. This works better when the engine is warm too. Sometimes this takes a few minutes with pressure applyed to work its way through to where you can see it. It will be obvious when which one is leaking. On the last one hotline said remove the injectors on head thats leaking to check for damage to o-rings, combustion ring or carbon in cup from loose injector. if so replace the cups(parts and tools avaiable now) if not replace the head due to cracks.

I wanna say its +/- 12. I have found them to be biased tho. On one of my first ones cylinder three read like 16-17% even after replacing that injector(over fueling and knocking pre flamage) reset kam and still had high fuel trim. was advised to ship it and i have yet to see it back

tony its not only you bud, I get boned out of actual time to find the root cause to a repair

WHERED THE ROLLER BEARING COME FROM???
DieselD replied to OHNO60's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
yup thats the place. Ive had one. I was stumped the first time seeing that -
it would look better in my stall tho /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crybaby2.gif

Did my first one yesterday too. it kinda blows but seems easier than that cab on procedure. the worst part is unbolting and torquing those cab bolts. be very careful as they are very easy to break that cage nut loose then you have to go inside to hold it. Have Fun!
-
Any one see this in the WSM yet? or for that matter try it? looks like a huge pain to do! still dont know how they expect you to get to those y-pipe bolts let alone torque them!
-
there was a dude that missed out on the tool box too!
-
there was a flight that got delayed and never made it in time I thought?? Wonder if that was the guy? At least thats what I was hearing on the ride over from the hotel to port.

wow small world! I was going to post up here before I left but forgot. It would have been nice to meet you. I met lots of great people and even some familiar faces from AZ that Ive attended training with. Who knows I might have even come across you and not even known it! It was a long week for me since I had to go a day early and wait an entire day for a plan ride back. The drunk was funny, I was laughing so hard at the dude. However on the other had I felt he disrespected the group and made a fool of himself. Not good PR for us techs to the head guys at ford. Im sure there is always one like that tho. I was wondering what happened to him that night. I never saw him after the idol event. I did however see him the next day by the pool trying to recover. I was like "hey theres the drunk guy!"

at least I was not the only one scratching my head http://www.forddoctorsdts.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8146&page=1#Post8146
