Bruce your the man! I hope to get time to work on this turd today. They have me tearing down a torqshift out of an LCF /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif I try and tell them Im an engine guy not trany guy but I get the respone of "well you have your certs" This is the first one Ive done so we will see what I can screw up! anyway back on topic. I did a little research and I also saw that everything is there for a gen2. There is a plug on the right side next to the battery that loops the I line back in to the harness. this is the plug that would plug into the gen 2 harness if it had one. I drove it about 30miles yesterday and got the P0620 and P0623 to come back but not batt light or Mil. The MIL is coming on due to the P1149 code. I swapped gens from another truck to see what happens. I will post up what I find

06 F350 6.0, APS electrical service truck. check engine light on with P0620 P0623 P1149 orginal batterys at 25,055 miles. charging at 72amp 13.5v at idle and running all lights, 4 kc lights, beacons, flashers, radios, etc. At high idle it pegs my Vat 40 over 100amp and about 14 volts. according to as built it should have a 110amp alt so this all seems correct. p1149 is a generator 2 fault, this truck is only a single alternator truck. They are countiuous codes but have been having issues for months. They have taken it to several dealers to throw parts at it including a pcm and nothing has fixed it. my question is why am I seeing a gen 2 fault when there is not one? I also see a gen2 fault pid as well. the previous dealer did a blank path when they replaced the pcm about a month ago. anyone have any issues like this?

yes I did check configs, however the code is for an open curcuit and thats just what it was. I traced the wires back to find the wires cut that would go to a pretensioner or in this case the resistor. I found the pigtail from a buddy next door in car service. once I showed him the picture of the part I had he knew what it was and had one!. he just called it a shorting bar so we lost some info in translation I guess. I got it all in and back to the customer yesterday. yes larry that is the part I ordered by looking a the HBOM. what a pain! thanks for your help. I already ordered it when I saw this but looking at the number being the same makes me feel better in getting the right thing. Once mine comes in I will have an extra

I have got a hard one for you guys. We have a 07E350 here thats a converted short bus. The air bag light is on with a B1881. basically the pretensioner is missing since obviously there is no seat. Someone the body builder missplaced the resistor that comes on the truck when built and cut the wires to the plug. All I have is 2 cut wires for the pretensioner that is not there. My parts guys and myself have been looking for the part number for a yellow connector with a resistor in it to allow the module to think there is a seat there. anyone run into this issue? I need a part number if possible the bullitin number is Q93 https://www.fleet.ford.com/TRUCKBBAS/non-html/Q93.pdf

BLACK SMOKE ON INITIAL ACCELERATION
DieselD replied to OHNO60's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
here is a shot of the tailpipe -
pick up an augest edition of diesel power. Bully Dog has a tuner already built (pre production I think) claiming 104 extra horse. they also mention how the DFP goes into regen quicker and more often. I think they are going to have their work cut out for them to make any type of mods.

BLACK SMOKE ON INITIAL ACCELERATION

How ironic, I had a F550 in for a rear axle noise that ended up getting a new 3rd member. I was swapping it out and happen to notice the tailpipe being black with soot, further inspection noted soot on the rear of the bumper behind the tailpipe. sure enough when driving and quick accel in my stall from idle it smokes. Everything looks great, its going through a regen now so we will see. The catch is "you cant upsell warrenty" /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif The customer is not complaining about it but its got a problem...... -
Im surprised yours still works. ours has pretty much been dead and tossed in the corner now. I do know the feeling of not enough IDS setups tho
-
I was wondering how you actually verified employment. Again Im glad for the way its setup here. I absolutely had the hell child boards of TDS and the like.
-
saw that this week also, ordered mine up as well. might not get much use in Arizona but hey free is free!!

I feel the same way. I actually had the chance to buy an 06 during a 0% yada yada deal. anyway the more I thought about it the more I realized it wasn't a good idea. sure I would use it but not as much as it should be. decided to hold off. I would have no problem owning one however. I have a feeling we will be able to pick up cheap older trucks down the road. seems even the 7.3s are holding more value than the 6.0

The DPF was my first thought when I read the title. good to hear you got it fixed. -
Ive done 2 of those now.....

almost as bad as the customer we had that put gear oil in a touqshift
-
I almost always replace both as a set. When they get hydrolocked and wont run long enough to monitor the EOT and ECT is the worse. I am not about to replace the cooler then recheck, then replace the oil cooler then recheck again. If not they usually come back with another EGR cooler failure. The ones that get both stay away. I have even has hotline tell me to replace both most of the time.

not yet but we have had a rash of STC fittings on them. We have had a couple with venting problems related to head gaskets.

where is CAT? I hear they want to jump into the 450-550 market too. I saw a picture of a prototype tundra with a cat motor in it not to long ago.

I have an air gun that fits the little caps from fuel lines and pumps perfect. I can fire one of those accross the shop and hit my mark. At close range it can leave welts but not hard enough to really hurt or put and eye out.

middle of the week sucks. but hey a day off is a day off. cant complain too much!
-
sounds like its time for a flight recorder......
-
I had 3 this morning, made only 20bucks tho.
-
yeah its quick. I like spraying them. makes life easy. spray it and forget. it will either pop off or as soon as you loosen one bolt on the turbo they pop off.

I tend to stay away from rumors but this one had me rolling. I stumbled across it on another site. http://www.newtechspy.com/articles06/hydraulichybrid.html thought you might all enjoy
