  1. Approval for a drop in came down the pipe this morning. Don't know if I've said it before, but this thing has had head gaskets once, a pair of heads another time, a long block, a bunch of turbos, 3 EGR coolers, 1 oil cooler, rear main seal , rear cover gasket, HPOP, #1, 4, 5, 7, 8 injectors...I am sure I am leaving some stuff out here.
  2. See my signature? Keep changing parts 'till you find a good one.
  3. Probably to make the truck do a little work, as opposed to being a grocery getter
  4. Yah, they got it for prior approval now, so we'll see who's taking it in the hoop...Ford, or the customer.
  5. U-Joint and 2 companion flanges. Real bitch to phase
  6. Drop in is $16k. Stock in Toronto and Edmonton.
  7. 04 6.0, 145,000kms, warranty up in June. Tow in today. Crank no start. Throw the IDS on it, 200psi ICP. Customer says that he came back to the truck to get his cell phone and noticed it was idling funny, then it quit. Coolant level is full. Pop hood...smells BURNT. The little white part on the bottom of the dipstick is burnt black. Oil is pretty runny. Hmmm... Check codes...Engine Oil Temp Sensor circuit code (P0197)....set at....255 degrees. Oil filter. Melted. Stand pipe? GONE. The check valve from the bottom of the oil filter housing is melted to the bottom of the oil filter. I think we've found out why it won't make any ICP. Freeze frame indicates 30% app, 2100RPM, 0MPH vss. 30 minute runtime. PTO off. (no PTO idle-up switch on the truck from what I can see.) Long back story on this one...but there is also cooling fan circuit codes...however, they pass a KOEO test. According to 19420, the stand pipe melts at 350 degrees. What do you guys think? Owner... *ahem* helped it fail?
  8. NOPE! Anything we can fix under $8800, we're good to roll.
  9. I had to fix the air conditioning in my truck today.
  10. Big +1 on that. I found mixing the Ford penetrating oil and tune-up cleaner in the spark plug well works good too.
  11. Kinda what I figured I just wanted to see under the hood. Do YOU know anyone that could get some pics?
  12. Last one I fell off of, I broke the grille with my melon. Have you seen Dwayne's picture of his 08 hood incident?

Jebus Tapdancing Chrysler - the feature in the Cambodian Tire flyer this week. $349,99 Keep The Power, Cut Emissions! Breathe easier with a cleaner performing gas lawnmower. The BTD ultra low emission mower is equipped with a catalytic converter and secondary air injection to reduce harmful emissions by 35%, making it better for the environment and your health. Guess there's gonna be no more using the old race gas in the lawnmower....lead and catalytic converters have somewhat of a compatibility issue. I don't have a problem with less emissions for the protection of the environment, but I mean, come on. It's a lawnmower. If the AIR system fails, does it have a check engine light? What about when the converter gets plugged? I betcha the converter's worth more than the whole damn mower.
  14. Driving an F-350 with POLAR BEAR plates on it! LOL "What the...fuck?"
  15. I'd do a manual compression test on those holes just to verify. What's the base fuel pressure?

Kinda like the invisible fire in Talledega Nights? And flushing your fuel system is a waste of ANY fuel. Gotta like a fuel system that destroys all the rubber in it if you leave the fuel in it
  17. In Royal Oak, MI. Waiting at a stoplight. I look over - there it is. 2010/11/whatever Super Duty with the hood NOT attached to the grille (Look at the front of a Flex for the grille to hood line, and change the headlights over to the SD lights. Looks pretty good) I roll down the window to hear it go by....and it's a diesel! Manufacturer plate on the back. It was too dark to get a cell phone pic though Dark green. Lookin good - and the engine in that truck was very, very quiet with only the slightest hint of diesel rattle. I was tempted to turn around and follow the guy, but things sometimes don't come across as an enthusiasm being followed, more like "Holy fuck, this big dude is gonna kill me and steal my work truck!"

And from what you said up there ^^ Alcohol is for drinking, not racing. I worked with a guy that had a top sportsman car that he ran on methanol. You couldn't run the fucking thing in the shop with the doors OPEN. It'd burn the eyes out of you. As well, when he first started racing the car - he couldn't SEE by the big end of the track because the fumes in the car would burn your eyes out. Turbo Blue for the win.

And even now, the use of leaded gas is SO limited - as you've always said Jim - guys using it in their weekend warrior toys, at the track, not their daily drivers (mainly because you've gotta buy it in a drum, and 5 gallons last time I checked was around $60. Anyways - the use of this fuel in racecars is again being threatened - they are threatening to ban all leaded gasolines. The amount of pollutants created by a racetrack on a weekend is pale in comparison to that put out by old clunker piece of shit semis, people that have the emissions equipment removed from their vehicles, people who burn plastic garbage...etc, etc, etc. The general public picks the easiest target, the automobile enthusiast, and says "Well; no more fuel for you guys anymore, it's got LEAD in it, and LEAD is BAD." "But us being the tofu-fartin' faries that we are, we're gonna keep churning out plastic water bottles and I'm going to keep driving my 15 year old diesel volkswagen that the entire rear of the car is fucking BLACK because the turbo hasn't worked in 5 years, and the injection timing is all fucked up. But I'm saving the environment!" Fuck me.
