    6.0L Parts

Oh wow, my instructions were WAAAY different. 5+ pages, back and front. International logos all over the place. I actually read them, first one I've done and I didn't want the fucker to leak.
  2. Probably needs a starter. How many amps does it draw? My guess would be a lot.
  3. Not to mention, water and electricity don't mix.
  4. No, but I do have an EPA document regarding marine diesel fuel and it's various grades. http://www.epa.gov/OMS/regs/nonroad/marine/ci/fr/dfuelrpt.pdf

Yeah. I had a truck apart for almost TWO WEEKS waiting for that 6a642 "OIL COOLER REBUILD KIT" Throw the instructions in the garbage, by the way - it tells you all sorts of fancy o-ring colors - they are all black.
  6. I used to have a busted balljoint press. I cut the end of the C clamp part off so it would jam up against the inside wheel, and you aren't anything out of pocket because the dickhead tool dealer won't warranty your busted stuff. Same principle, not as fancy though. Someone else wanted it more than I did though.
  7. I use freezer method, myself. It has worked pretty well up till this point.
  8. This is what I was asking about, I think I've heard the mattress story before. Same customer that says "Well, it's only flat on the bottom!" after driving several hundred miles on the RIM.
  9. Final Notice IS part of my address. I change the seals every time, becuase if the 4x4 don't work when I'm done - it gets fixed for free. Jim - I haven't looked, but can you claim the knuckle op-code with the balljoint op-code?
  10. Guy across from me does balljoints on a 2004 F250 or 350 4x4 today. Looks it up in the SLTS. Pays 2.6 hours to do all four. How come an 05/06/07 pays 4.2 do to the same job? (Note: there is no operation 3049AT listed for a 2008, the closest thing I can find is R&I knuckle assembly, for 4.2 also) What's different in an 04 that makes it that much easier? I'm just curious, I really don't know why.
  11. I think the thing that bugged him the most was after I was walking away, I stuck my head out the window, and yelled "Hey! Didn't you see the 6.2L DIESEL logo on the tailgate after you pulled me over?"
  12. More importantly, did you really say "Oh, that sucks." when it broke? I hav seen a couple now that have required replacement of the column for no EPAS.
  13. Jim - yeah, we got those yellow-raincoated freaks here too Keith - I let him read me the riot act, write me up tickets for Cats, no EGR, etc, etc. I then showed him the NON CATALYST label with no other emission equipment listed and he got all red-faced and mad. WOW was he ever pissed. WOW I can still see the look on his face when I showed him the label. Looked like I told him I had just poked his wife!
  14. Ontario you can get a fine for each emissions component not present or not operating properly by way of a defeat system. When I got ticketed for no cats on my NON CATALYST underhood labeled Suburban - the fine was $345 per infraction. Also, I would suspect the truck would fail Ontario's Opacity testing for heavy-duty diesels if your truck is over 10,000 LBS GVW.
  15. I used to drop the hammer on the ol' GM diesel and leave 'em standing there in a big ass cloud of soot.
  16. I was just yappin' Jim...it's not something I routinely practice. Out of all of the ones I have fixed, I have only found one broken, but several of them that have been worn in the keyway.
  17. What do you use to cut the silicone at the rear cover/hpop cover joint? I use the EGR cooler to up-pipe gasket, folded on a 90* angle. Works good in the tight space.
  18. Don't forget to clean the loctite off the new bolts and use anti-seize instead
  19. There's a procedure in the shop manual for it....I've used my vacuum filler on several of them, and filled several with the jugs and ran it at high idle as per usual. I'd get you the procedure but my interwebs aren't workin right today.
  20. I had an 36k mile 08 today blow the COLD side off....but that's COMPLETELY not what we're talking about here. Carry on with the previously scheduled program already in progress.
