  1. I tried to locate it also and came up empty.
  2. F450 and F550 will never clear a p1000. They have different emission rules than a f250 and 350. An fse and I both found this out the hard way. I just ignore the p1000 in the 450's and 550's now.
  3. I would imagine that since it only has blown headgaskets and it is modified that they will be denying the claim.
  4. I seem to recall back in 2004 when this engine was released a few bad cam phasers that would cause that exact concern. I believe the pin in the phaser would fall out and unplugging either one of the cam sensors would cause the problem to go awasy.
  5. Shiner bock is my favorite down here. Can't stand the light beers.
  6. I have seen a few that are collapsed and soft but never one with a hole in it like that. I have however seen the tube that the breather hose goes into get soft and split at the bottom where it connects to the turbocharger.
  7. I hope that the ids does not go away. I own one my self and have invested quite a bit of money in it. I will be very dissapointed if I have to purchase another scan tool. Our shop only has 1 ids for 27 guys. I had to have my own in order to be productive. I also would not like to tell my wife that I would have to spend another 3 grand on a scan tool.
  8. I am assuming that since the intercooler runs on the secondary cooling system that the coolant is actually cooler than the primary cooling system.
  9. I have a f450 tow truck that I have put 5 front covers on. They last about 7-10000 miles before it returns. Another guy here at the shop has their other tow truck that eats through covers as well. Our fse had told us that this is caused by the water pump pumping too much coolant and that the pump is actually causing negative pressure on the suction side of the pump. Supposedly they are still kicking around what they are going to do. He has informed me that they are looking at a few options like either adding some sort of restritor to slow it down of changing the size of the water pump pulley.
  10. I have seen blown headgaskets cause bubbles up through the degas bottle at idle. I currently have a f250 in my bay right now that will pop the cap just idling with a cold engine.
  11. I had one that had a bad pcm in it causing that concern. You could tap on the case and the engine would sputter for a brief second.
  12. If it was my truck I would tap the hole and plug it. But considering that those pumps do like to fail I would sell one to a customer instead of repairing it.
  13. Seen a few as well. Man those things leak a ton of oil.
  14. I have personally seen only 4 of them break. More than likely you just have a bad stc fitting though. If the branch tube does happen to be cracked though it is because the stc fitting has failed and bent the crap out of it.
  15. The cover that we use to get with the 6.0 is not the one that I need. If this were a 6.0 it would be the cover that the oil supply line for the turbo goes into. It looks almost the same for a 4.5 but the turbo supply line is blocked off and the eot and oil pressure switches are located on a different part of the oil filter housing.
  16. I need some help. I need an oil cooler for a 2006 4.5. The parts guy tells me that the basic on it is 6a810. Does any one know what this kit comes with? I ended up damaging the cover that goes on the top of the oil cooler. The cover that is held on with the 8 torx bolts. Does this kit come with that cover? Does any one know the part mumber of the cover I need? The price is expensive which makes me think that it comes with more than just a oil cooler and cover kit. Any help is appreciated.
  17. I have seen that twice. It was very difficult to find. I seem to recall a ssm on it at one time but I think it is now gone. Just did one about 2 months ago. Almost sounded like a flywheel coming apart. Both of these vehicles started fine at all times, but once I tore them down the stc fitting just fell apart. Try brake stalling it and during the concern use the ids to adjust your ipr up and down. If the noise changes or goes away at different icp pressures then that is more than likely your problem.
  18. I have an old stc fitting that I installed an air nipple onto to test the rest of the high pressure oil system. Of course it only works on later 6.0's. I just bolt it to the branch tube and then directly connect the shop air hose to it. Works great for verifying that the branch tube is not cracked as well as detecting other possible leaks in the system.
  19. I have replaced 3 failed pedals on 6.4's. Mine did not surge like yours did though, they just had high idle concerns. They would idle at about 2500 rpm. Pulled up on pedal and concern went away. Of course a new pedal fixed all of them. I submitted a gcr on it and the pedals were sent to engineering to investigate.
  20. Man that is a great tip. My mother in law is complaining about a noise on her 07 coming from the rear. I have not had a chance to look at it but the way you describe it sounds like her description of the problem. I will be sure to check that out.
  21. The injection pump is actually on the outside of the engine. It is located in the same spot that a hpop on a 7.3 is. But it does not look like fun to replace should it fail.
  22. Also have replaced a few injector for this as well.
  23. Use a short pry bar on the dipstick tube hold down to remove it. Wedge the hold down against the tube and pry it out.
