I hear ya. We are still trying to get a claim paid where the engineers told us 3 times to change the high pressure fuel system on a 6.4L with a previously installed drop in engine. You may recall this one, I posted it earlier, we ended up replacing the short block because after all that crap they decided they didn't like the CMP/CKP readings. It's been months and they kick it back on every attempt.
D-links crapped out again. They only work outside the shop. Boss went looking for new ones and nobody keeps them in stock anymore. Seems they lose their integrity over time and the signal becomes weak. Explains why they only work outside, no interference. So it's back to wired until someone invents a better dongle.
Apology accepted.
It should be law here in Alberta as well. Every summer there is at least one grass fire along the Anthony Henday ring road in Edmonton. Guess how they start. They can ticket you for having a pet in your lap while driving, why not a smoke in your mouth?
During the ECOBOOST course we were discussing turbo cool-down, the ECOBOOST turbo is designed to draw coolant after the engine is shut down by way of thermal siphoning and slowly cools the turbo. We asked if the 6.7L turbo is designed to do the same thing. They told us it wasn't but will still do it. So this takes out the cool down idle period theory I would think.
Or...you could do what I am trying to do right now and up-sell a particle filter. Truck has 146,000 km on it and it's getting some slight black in the tailpipes. No sense trying to drill out the busted sensor on this one.
Not to be rude, but that was uncalled for. BTW, it's an Ontario thing, not all provinces share the same laws. Plus it's a safety issue and these guys tend to throw the lit butts out the window, that is what sucks, not Canada.
Wouldn't be easier just to add in a second filter/separator unit if he is that concerned. I never did understand the concept of running a diesel off road. Wouldn't you get better response out of a hopped up gasser, better for wheel spin IMHO.
Mark the old one, just like the 6L when they came out with the recall stickers that would eventually peel off and which, for some reason, did not apply to certain 2005 models....
Digging this up so I don't have to start a new thread. Last night I did something I haven't done in a while. Both kids had homework, the wife was at work, not a lot to do around the house. So I threw Skyrim in the old XBOX 360 and played for about 3 1/2 hours. Sometimes it's good to just get away from the grind stone and have some mindless fun on a hack and slash game.
It's back......the new water pump I put in with the long block only lasted 400 KM before spitting the impeller into the cover and overheating the engine. Luckily the guys tuner set the alarm and he shut it down before causing any more damage.
It also had a failed fuel cooler pump and the system was empty, looked like it purged instead of the engine cooling system. Hopefully SPW likes my story on how the water pump failure caused the failed fuel cooler pump.
I saw that first one a while back, If you go through the comments, apparently there was not enough exhaust flow and it resulted in high cylinder pressures when the revs got up there. Watch the exhaust pipe start to flex before the it blew.
Ford wanted to have a split shot injection cycle but the injectors couldn't turn on/off fast enough and would cause a very rough idle, sometimes a no start.
I was told the same thing. Once Ford put the Emissions parts on it and upped the power it went down hill. I have heard from many who have worked on them in the International chassis that say they don't have the problems we see. I believe the injectors are the same. In 2003 when they first came out, the injectors couldn't handle the injection programming Ford needed to meet emissions. Ford had to rework the entire program to get them to run, it took awhile and it pissed off a lot of customers. That was the start of this fabulous 6 litre journey.
Not sure about part number, but it is the same plug as the ones in the block, if that helps.
Same thread at least. I tried to edit 3 times, doesn't seem to work.
