  1. You can also swing by any Ford dealer and they would probably give you the manuals, if they could find them.
  2. Almost 90 degrees today, gonna be a hot one this summer.
  3. How much stock do you guys put in short term fuel trims on these things? I have an '08 with 100k on it and the owner is complaining about turbo boost being erratic. He describes it almost like a surging on a 6.0l with a sticky VGT solenoid. The fuel trims all hang around zero but number 1 is at positive 10. Power balance is pretty even but when number 7 is cancelled, the drop is like the rest of the cylinders but the noise is no where near as dramatic. It also clatters a bit when cancelling cylinders almost as if some rocker tips may be questionable? Relative compression is at zero with one or two cylinders at 1. This thing runs good for me and the boost never drops while driving it and it makes 32ish PSI under load. Not sure if something is really wrong with this thing or what. I have this looming feeling that she is hiding something. Anyone ever seen one of these drop boost to zero while in the throttle and then return to making boost?
  4. 75 and sunny, every door in the shop open all day today. Gonna be a blistering summer.
  5. Lost count of how many PCM's we flashed for this concern.....SBDS payed for itself on them bad boys.
  6. The CKP connector was also an issue on those engines, with poor pin fit.
  7. How the fuck he kept a straight face is beyond me......."take 48!"
  8. I hate all the anacronyms, kinda like the sync course. That's what gives me fits, that and the scenarios dont give you any forgiveness whats so ever.
  9. Anybody taken this thing yet? They extended the deadline to June......she's a cock knocker for sure.
  10. Awesome! Gonna show this to my boss to get him a little more motivated towards getting better lifts.
  11. ....plus the exhaust manifolds make a nice little blanket for the turbo.
  12. Sorry to hear, my family and I will keep you in our prayers and hope for a speedy recovery!
  13. If they build them engines half as good as that cutaway was constructed then she will last forever. That's an awesome cutaway, not too crazy about all that stuff on the back of the engine though.
  14. Just ran into one of these yesterday, couple of screen shots from it: The owner had been dealing with it's driveability symptoms for 2 years and had been to multiple shops for multiple repair attempts. We called him in a pretty timely manner with a very low quote to fix it, then called him back just as quick with the news that it was fixed. He was skeptical and would not come to pick it up until we drove it again over the weekend. You can't ask for a better running vehicle and I am sure he will be quite happy with the repair.
  15. Thought I would share some pics of my new shop and poke some fun at the same time. This shop is ancient. Here is the alignment machine. And of course you gotta have on of these. Here is the bay I started out in 3 months ago. This wall makes it difficult to work on anything related to this side of a vehicle. I just recently got upgraded and I am now in the back of the shop which has 6 bays at my disposal. I have some work to do to clean up and organize this area. First off, this is the walk way to the exit door. When you have an ambulance in this bay, you can't even walk through here hardly. All this stuff is getting moved. This old and feeble press is going all the way into that corner by the garage door, and the bench will get moved to here. Then I have to tackle this dumping ground. This is one of the 3 lifts in the back and I hated these things when I first started in the 80's. Nearly 3 decades later and I don't like them any better. These lifts get the car in the air.....but if you want to get any work done on said car they blow. Controls for the lift. Now you would think that this is an ordinary.....uh well a knife of some sort, right? Buuuttt it's actually a special tool to hold the lift up/down control lever open for that "hands free" operation.
  16. HFCM manifolds make great fuel line block offs and unions for hoses of the same diameter.
  17. This is an oldie but a goldie. Although it's the first one for me involving a 64. This one ran unchecked for a little too long and needed an engine with complete fuel system after the tank and HFCM were replaced. These DEF jugs come in handy for all sorts of things, these just happened to allow me to drain and view just under 20 gallons of fuel that was in the tank. The primary filter did a hell of a job scrubbing the bits out and this fuel went into our old ass tow truck.
  18. Not one but two of them bastards this week, in the same WEEK.
  19. That thing must hunt for gears like a mutha in traffic.
