  2. I just checked my first "OFFICAL" diesel training was 12/05/97, a fordstar FIRTFT class 7.3L DIT Diesel drivabilty diagnosis.
  3. Other than the aforementioned valve retainer I found what we believe is 1/2 of a wrist pin snap ring.
  4. fortunately it was the oil cooler that took a shit LOL. I want to flush the cooling system again before I give it back but it's all fixed, looked a lot worse than it was.

  6. I had a 1997 F350 7.3L once I found one valve keeper stuck to the drain plug. I told the customer then pulled the valve covers to inspect the valve keepers / retainers to see if one was missing, none were and the customer was happy to pay the hour to find out it was ok.
  7. DING WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!!You just answered your own question. My personal rule on Steering boxes is if it leaks but has no play I'll reseal it,other than that it gets a box .PERIOD. I don't want to open the shop or my self to the liability of a box that may fail. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/2cents.gif FWIW I'm a Sr. Master tech and in all the count less hours of classroom training I took, I never disassembled a box or rack in class...how about any of you guys?? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif
  8. funny that you would bring this up I was thinking about the exact same post.. I recently had three boxes that would intermittently loose power assist and one box that had so much assist it was like the pitman arm wasn't hooked up. My parts manager asked me "whats up with these steering boxes" since we hadn't done a steering box in close to a year then three in about a month??
  9. So you work on PLYCON Transport trucks to huh???? I've got at least one of every type mentioned here the worst is the guy that shops every dealership for warranty work till one fixes it and brings all his retail work to "His Mechanic" but when said "mechanic" screws it up he comes in with all his alldata and internet sourced TSB's to try to make it Fords problem. I didn't want to fix it but my worthless spineless Ford rep wants to spoon with this asshole and give him a hand job so I gotta fix his screw ups for warranty time /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smhair.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smhair.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smhair.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif
  10. 2 yrs unlimited miles same as a 650-750 see you just asked that the Ford TSB for the 650-750 STC fitting says to use actual time the tsb for a 250-550 is 8.0 hr I'd like to know what navi's is
  11. I got a customer that also has a Int 4200 with a VT365 I need to know what Int pays for a STC fitting I believe he will be submitting the bill to int so I want to keep it in line with warranty time. The nearest Int dealer is about 70 miles from here so I fixed it for him if he gets something back from Int good for him but we will be charging him for the repair. BTW you INT guys got it good I'd rather work on them than a 650-750 what a dream that thing is to work on.... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif

  16. In case you don't know, if you have any pressure or the converter isn't striped if you unplug the bulkhead connector at the top of the trans it will usually be able to drive into the bay under it's own power.. and save your backs from pushing. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/readthis.gif CHECK AND RECORD CODES FIRST!!!!!!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/readthis.gif unplugging it will set many codes.
  17. I didn't order a 5X I'm a bit "chubby" but not 5X chubby. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shocked.gif I ordered a 2X tall
  18. I got this e-mail the other day Quote: Diesel Certified Technicians, Congratulations on qualifying for this fantastic jacket. We are extremely proud of the initiative you took to keep yourself trained and up-to-date on the latest product. The Tall sizes, Small and 5X were way more popular than we ever anticipated. For each size, we ordered 20% of them as Tall, and technicians ordered many more than that! So, we are currently back-ordered on Talls, Small and 5X sizes. We are quickly having our jacket manufacturer make additional jackets, and we will keep you updated as to when we expect your jacket to ship. At least it's still August, and you shouldn't need a jacket for a few more months. Thanks for your patience…and stay tuned. 21. Sorry Jim I didn't see this post sooner I might have saved you a few minutes /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif as I started to read it I immediately thought of the pump shaft/striped out converter that ALMOST ate my lunch once....... pretty much the same diag you had "won't move I unplugged it but it still won't move" got plunked on my bench I took it apart and found nuttin!! I don't know what made me stick the shaft into the converter but I did and it was striped but the shaft looked perfect.
  22. YEP! I set the smoke alarm off in the shop with a E450 when I started it (with a hose on it) after the repair the fog out of the exhaust was so thick it was coming out of the roof of the shop (where the exhaust system exits) and settling in the lot the wind blew it into the shop and set the fire alarm off.... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rofl.gif
  23. Assuming 1 is lowest 10 is highest 8 7 10 3 6 parts guy 10 parts manager
