  1. You got caught driving a commercial vehicle in Ontario with a defect like that, they'd cut your balls off. Wow. That's. Just. Awesome.
  2. I got 15.5 with a 6.4 at 70-80MPH towing about 8,000 LBS across Canada. But like he said ^^ driving style plays a big part of it.
  3. Is there a SPEC zip tie to use? Because some of the ones I've seen bust pretty easily once they get hot.
  4. Zip ties... We fixed your $82,000 Harley Davidson F-450 with zip ties, sir....
  5. I guess I should have phrased that differently - they WERE passing...now that they are "redesigned" again, and failing the test, but apparently ok.
  6. There was a message awhile back about Silver and Purple paint dots on the valves, and a certain packaging date - I have been getting lots of valves with only one paint dot, but the right build date, which is unusual, but they are passing.
  7. So I do an EGR valve in a 6.0 the other day, P0404. Guy told me he got into a run of shitty fuel, so fine, that's likely the cause, there's a lot of soft carbon. Told him to try it out and let me know, put the little EGR baffle kit in, good to go, right? WRONG. Road test the truck. Do the EGR test. Fails. Strange. Do it again. Fails. Pull valve out, and can visibly see the NEW valve moving open and shut during the test. Still fails. Fuck it. Call the hotline. (THIS IS NOT A SHOT AT THE HOTLINE, IT IS VALUABLE ADVICE - HOWEVER IT IS INFO THAT SHOULD BE OUT THERE.) Here is the response: Tech's question: EGR valve failed position test on original diag. Replaced valve flashed modules to latest levels and installed baffle. Road tested truck and re-tested. New EGR valve fails EGRVP test. Please advise. It is slow to ramp up. Seeking diagnostic direction. Hotline response: Aaron, The EGR valve has been changed so the operating ranges are a little different than the old valve. This can cause the EGR test to fail. If the vehicle has no drivability concerns, recommend to release the vehicle and monitor oasis for updates. WHY IS THIS NOT A FUCKING SSM OR TSB OR BROADCAST MESSAGE!
  8. FWIW - on a front cover/rear seal job....EVERY ONE I have done, they have wanted pieces back. Seal, gasket, whatever. Bedplates, they almost always want the front crank seal and rear crank seal back. In my experience, anyhow. That dealer you were at coulda got hung out to dry on that one!
  9. ROFL But anyway - they probably won't do jack shit, as usual. Or they'll charge back the claim to your dealership. You KNOW it's always the last guy who touched it's fault...
  10. In Ontario, we have a diesel opacity test for vehicles over 10,000LBS GVWR. My truck is 11,400 so it's classed as 'heavy duty'. It's a snap test at WOT 3x to see how much "opacity" the truck puts out. HD trucks, in my weight and horsepower range, are allowed 30% opacity. My truck blew 0.0% He said to me he had to run it twice, because the first time he did it he thought his machine was broke. Carbon footprint my ass.
  11. I remember Dwayne's post about his melon VS a 08 Super Duty hood. Who else has got stories? I'll tell mine last.
  12. Variable Rate Swing Press and Panel/Trim adjustment tool.
  13. I think we need TRID files on some of the six speeds...I seem to recall having to download something solenoid pack/strategy specific, and I remember the term TRID somewhere along those lines. Better stop posting photos of the stuff with part numbers on it, or Larry will have one built before they are even in production

Thank you sir, worked perfectly! I owe you a drink should we ever be in Ford School together. I'm the guy who's knuckles will be dragging on the floor.
  15. Should you been old enough to drive, you would have been the guy going "by himself" to the drive in, with 300 people in the back of that beast under that big folded up tent.

Anybody got this floating aroudn somewhere? Hotline sez "it's been deleted from the system and is no longer retrievable."
  17. Book my dad gave me today when he was down for a visit. It appears Kingland Ford (the dealer I worked at up north) opened August 9th, 1979, in Hay River, Northwest Territories. Kind of an unusual coincidence, that I read that book today. As an aside - that book has all sorts of really neat info in it, lots of it revolving around the Windsor, Ontario area.
  18. There's one of those Jellystone parks right near me. Always looks like lots of people having a hoot. Feels good to get away for a bit, doesn't it?

    FICM Guide

I'll also take a copy to big_angry_hillbilly@yahoo.ca if you've got a second, Bruce! Thanks!
  20. I dont think there's anyone in here that hasn't claimed labor op or two that they haven't done, but when it comes down to something like parts, like a branch tube...or something else like that just to out and out LIE CHEAT AND STEAL.... What about the next guy down the line? What if he gets it and by that time the branch tube IS fucked - how's that look on the original repairing technician?

Anyone got a copy? This is the fuel in oil one for the 6.5, but they've deleted the fucking thing from the system because it's been superseded to "Read the PCED" manual... There was something I wanted from that TSB, anyone help?
  22. What happens if you "REPLACE" a branch tube during your course of the STC repair, and FoMoCo wants the old one back?
