  1. Now that was great for a laugh after my day today! Thanks Brad!
  2. Yup - that looks like a late model cooler with early model guts in it. "WE BUY EGR COOLER CORES" *Looking at box of EGR coolers under his bench* Hmmmmm.....
  3. I'd ship, i've got a couple - but wouldn't it be considered 'hazardous goods'?
  4. That is the worst idea ever, as far as I'm concerned (the one at a time thing) Also, there's a write up in that same magazine about WIPING OFF AND REUSING THE FUCKING HEAD GASKET! Personally, I feel that if you lose torque on a MLS head gasket at any point in the gasket, when it's re torqued, what's to say that something hasn't seeped between the layers of gasket, or the RA of the EXACT SPOT that you're compressing down NOW is the same as the RA of the spot that was on that gasket when you undid the head bolt. That made sense in my head, but it looks like shit, once I've got it written out. I hope it's clear enough.
  5. I had an 05 making a noise this weekend (my saturday to work) 'Cept it only went CLUNK. Once.
  6. It's real oily, eh? I found using that, and then brake cleaner even didn't get it all out. And holy shit does it ever stink. I spilled a little down an evaporator tube and it absorbed right into the foam on the evaporator. Single cab truck, BLACK, outside in 100+ degree heat. It was not pleasant smelling inside.
  7. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civic_Holiday Another paid summer day off for us Canucks. Let's raise a Blue. That's good stuff. Have a happy holiday fellows!
  8. That solvent is a motherfucker to get out. I try and avoid using it. I load one of those little flusher deals up with brake cleaner and try and use that as best I can. Last compressor failure I had was on an Edge, and they (hotline) told me to change everything, except the evaporator, after it ate a second compressor. I'd bet the solvent contaminated/diluted the oil on ya. I hate that shit.
  9. Dammit! I thought I had one up on you, and took something apart first! LOL I figured you'd already had one apart. Mine didn't look damaged either, just stunk like a burned out TV or radio, you know, something that's had a smoke leak?
  10. It actually doesn't 'unplug'. The little cover on the FICM, once you take it off, there's four screws that connect both boards together. I nearly broke it before I realized this. LOL Figgered it out without breakin' it, and it's good to go.
  11. Yeah, but that's the problem, Keith - that one knuckle will provide a clean path to ground for your shock when you hit the FICM output screws
  12. This would also probably work.
  13. Here's another Good Idea, Bad Idea! Good Idea for a tow vehicle. F350, 4x4. 11,400LBS GVWR. Here's a bad idea for a tow vehicle. Yes. That's a ranger. With a 24 foot enclosed trailer, and a camper on it. And a PMCVI sticker on it.
  14. Had to beat the rod out of the block with a hammer.
  15. I'm not really talkin about stuff turning to shit, I had a job yesterday that was impossible to make any worse, 5.4 with a busted rod. Just people sometimes. You feel like smashin' em.
  16. The board is silicone sealed in some spots, but I bet you could change those inverter/transformers instead of the whole FICM. Fuck...shouldn't have said that.... AFIAIC - there's too much liability in changing those, only need one guy to get zapped. There's some pretty big capacitors in that step-up side.
  17. Hit me about 3:30 this afternoon. I'm glad I've been home this afternoon - I'd have likely fucking punched someone's lights out for saying the wrong thing to me today. Being 6'5 and about 275 lbs this would not have been a pleasant result on the receiving end of it. Almost feel like going back to work in the fucking Arctic just because there's nobody up there to deal with. Rant mode off. Thanks.
  18. That's the way I've been doing it, too, and I hang the button over the radius arm while i am not using it to avoid losing any fingers or any of that crap.
  19. I took one of these apart just to see what the fuck makes 'em tick. (Pardon the 'Tick' pun) Smelled like 'electrical burnt' inside - thats the best I can describe it. This one was putting out around 27v KOER if I recall rightly. Retail, too. I would assume the black deals on the right side of the photo are the step-up transformers to roll the B+ up to 48v.
  20. Megapixel numbers are like almost everything else. Bigger is always better, unless it's your cellmate.
  21. No need for the aftermarket workaround anymore, either Jim. Ford has a TSB regarding how you can completely fuck up the trans case in about 12 easy steps!
  22. Shitty. Floyd's a pretty uncommon name nowadays isn't it?
  23. Two things about this. "SHIT! Just missed that one!" and use the same hand to push the button on the starter switch as you are using to undo the nuts. You dont wanna bump that button by accident with your fingers in the bellhousing - it sucks, I know.
  24. I ran one in the parts washer (varsol hose on the coolant inlet) for a week, and NONE of that sludgy shit came out of it.
