  1. I've been out of the dealer since about mid 2010, and haven't been doing a whole lot of stuff on the side lately. Are any of you guys seeing repeat FICM failures? I mean, you've changed a half-shell or complete FICM and it's gone for a dump again, low voltage? I'm just wondering if any improvement was made in the FICM or the half-shell's voltage parts to aid in longevity, or it's just the same part again.
  2. If I recall, it was a combination of electrical and pressure testing, but it has been quite a few years since I had a 4R open. The last one I did didn't back up, so the customer sent a replacement trans. Check your powers and grounds to the trans as well, could be something like a blown fuse or something silly like that too.
  3. That looks about the same as the ones I did in the mini-dump truck for the topsoil place a few years back LOL.
  4. True, never thought of that. Monitoring fan speed VS. duty cycle.
  5. Wow, that is something special right there! I'd definitely be unhappy if my truck made noises like that KOEO. Or at all, for that matter. You guys sure do have a quiet shop, by the way. LOL
  6. I've seen the harness rubbed through on the crossmember from not being installed back in the factory location, also where it comes down off the frame as well. Also a good place to look is in the driver's side firewall corner of the engine compartment for any critter dwellings, rats nests, etc. If memory serves me rightly, I have also replaced solenoid packs for this concern.
  7. Oh, you likely will, or someone along the Missouri route will. LOL
  8. Single reverse dinglearm carburizer! Speaking of which, I need to get a gasket set for the puddle-dumper on my hot rod.
  9. rub a bar of soap on the belt(s) with the engine running.
  10. Cooling fan going to beat the band will impede airflow through the radiator at road speed, eventually causing an increase in temperature. Possibly engine goes into self-preservation mode and ramps up the fan when it sees certain DTC's? Or maybe the fan clutch is dicked and staying on, and the over temp and EGR issue are just a coincidence.
  11. Be a pretty good indication when the thing comes in low on water, guy drains what's left, puts it back in, burps it, and still has leftover antifreeze...
  12. If he had closed up the gaps and it was directing ALL the air through the radiator, it would be WAY better. Jeez.
  13. What does your FCV and VCV and rail pressure look like when the oil is that hot, running and cranking?
  14. If you turn the volume way up, you can hear a regulated Holley Blue singing in the background.
  15. This is one we had at the shop for awhile, just for some maintenance and stuff. I'm six feet and a bunch of inches tall, I can't even get in it.
  16. The ONLY thing I can even begin to assemble as a thought for this, is when you have a small carb backfire, and starting the engine and the resulting venturi effect sucks the fire out. And I refer you fellows to this:
  17. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=acc_1367278543 They walk among us. I just find myself wondering what the thought process was here.
  18. Oh, it sucks, BIG TIME. AAAAAAAAAAND, that interior panel, is covered with sealer/butyl/etc. Watching you jump down that flight of stairs over the edge of the garden at your old place when I was there for dinner shows me you have about the right physical ability to get into this car to do it. LOL. I've taken the belt off from underneath, but that was just to change the blower, so I can't verify that you can swap the belt completely, but you can get the tension off and the belt off the supercharger pulley without taking all that interior stuff off. Also, I would recommend putting that car on a drive-on hoist to do any underneath stuff, to jack one up at work, I had to take the front wheels off an ultra-low-profile racing floor jack to get it FLAT on the ground to jack it up. Once that interior trim panel is off, it's not a HORRIFIC job, to be honest, but that trim panel is no fun to take off, especially when you're my size in a 250,000 dollar car.
  19. I'd be more likely to let Borat's brother crank a shift kit into something than I would be to let dingaling Hewitt change my HPOP oil.
  20. Well, I can tell you one thing. The sprag that girlie is grinding about half way through? Now unusable. Way to go. Dude, that video is hilarious. LOL
