  1. Very possible you have a fuel pressure problem, always a good place to start anyways... also do a inlet restriction test at the pump to see if the filters in the tank are plugged.
  2. Yeah, pretty much have to in order to do the testing they want.
  3. SSM 20635 A REVISED GAS/DIESEL ENGINE DEGAS BOTTLE CAP, PART NUMBER(9C3Z-8101-A) IS AVAILABLE IN SERVICE - FOR 2004-2009 ECONOLINE, 2003-2007 SUPER-DUTY AND 2003-2005 EXCURSIONS EQUIPPED WITH 6.0L DIESEL ENGINES Thats the condensed version of the SSM
  4. I've had a few posts deleted from over there but it's alright lol I know I musta hit a nerve or two
  5. I have seen enough carbon in one intake valve to hold it open far enough to make contact with the piston, and it was shortly after an EGR cooler was replaced. Usually the coolant washes most of the carbon down but every now and again I find one with extremely large carbon "cookies" that the coolant just loosened up and they tend to cause problems.
  6. Dunno who she is but it seems she hasn't got much liking of ole "Ralphy" which makes me like her that much more
  7. Yeah.....aren't you??? PWRSTROKEMAFIA.JPG +1 HAHAHAHA I like that pic.
  8. Yeah I'm trying to get it past the bean counters but so far no go, if not I'll have to pick them up for personal reference.
  9. Aaron and I are so far behind it's not even funny anymore, even going so far as to start sending work to the "other" truck guy and just when we start to make head way 5 more trucks appear. The car guys are getting busier by the day, so all in all things are pretty good considering the shape of things around here. More and more plant closings and jobs cuts in the headlines everyday, makes one wonder how much longer this can go on.....
  10. I'd be interested in what ever you have available Bruce, as I've got about 5 guys that need a "basic" refresher on your various DVOM functions, as well as voltage drops across circuits. And for some strange reason it's become my job to teach them.
  11. Matco has a nice little tool for these engines, it has a guide and pusher to push the porcelain down just enough for the extractor to thread into the remains of the plug. Works very very well. Part#: BPR65 ... it's on the Matco site for about 109.00 USD but the tool guys will work with you for a better price.
  12. By the sounds of what you're describing I'd be thinking the IDM is the cause but not having a test unit makes it a tough call, next time I'm up your way I'll run one over to you as I have about 4 spares from salvaged vehicles over the years
  13. No, they don't come with the CHRA and as far as I know you can't get them without ordering a turbo assembly.
  14. Depends on what flavor of E-van you have.... ones we see are always the hacked up buider type with all kinds of crap in the way. I've never actually had a regular van to see what it normally takes.
  15. Man I'm sorry to hear things are that bad around there, at least you have something to fall back on.... hopefully things will pick up for you guys soon.
  16. I shoulda mentioned it wasn't you Gotta admit the degas venting was kinda funny thought....
  17. Good point on plugging in the block heater, I'll have to remember that one I find a set of engine ears with the end pulled off works well to pinpoint which side is leaking, either in the oil filler or the crankcase breather holes in the valve covers.
  18. 04 E450 with a definate headgasket failure... previously repaired by and half assed tech whom shall not be named who performed a half assed attempt at an unsuccessful repair.... seems all the bolts aren't needed upon reassembly and silicone hides broken parts really well
  19. One of those and a topside creeper from Matco .... which Aaron and I can't stand to use but it works
  20. Chilton manual here says 3.6 hrs for an 05 up 6.0 including cleaning CAC tubes.
  21. Not yet Mike, like I said it's coming in this week for us to look at....but with Aaron's and my luck lately it will need heads
  22. We've got one coming in next week with the "lack of heat concern" so I fear we have our first e-van headgasket failure.
  23. Just a quick note to keep this alive, I just had an E-450 that I woulda swore needed a harness but after reading this I decided to test the harness with the oscilloscope and found my harness and sensors were right on the money.... not a bad test to do but read it closely a few times to make sure you follow the steps in the right order or the results will really send you on a goose chase
