  1. Cool, thanks. I have to go over some tests with a customer. 04. E350.
  2. Is there a post on here with a link to the diagnostic worksheet? I thought i saw it here once.
  3. Pulled the valvecover and it was looking pretty dry in there. Pulled a cam cap and it was scored pretty bad as was the cam flat.

  5. Yeah, I just expected AI to do it for me. It was the first time I used it to program keys since I had I bought it. Not too happy with it in that end.
  6. 15 psi at idle and the engine is still hot. Im im leaving the guage on it and testing it in the morning. Valve cover will be coming off also. I suspect the left head is only at fault for now but i wont want to get burned so im problobly going to recomend an engine. Fix one side and the next goes out a few weeks later-we all know that story. Also i grounded the signal wires at the solenoids, the right went 60 and the left went to 65. After grounding the left solenoid and shutting it down and restarting the engine noise and rough running returns(it smoothes out after running for a while-forgot to mention)but is ok for the right side. Also going to test drive with a not so responsive power ballance test with my auto enginuity.
  7. I got a wicked one right now, it's an 08 with 102k miles. I have p0012, p0340, p0344, p0345 all cmdtc's and no koer codes. The check engine light is on and is running rough with valvetrain noise. I pulled the cam sensor on bank 2 to have a look and it is full of metal sludge, i wiped it off and the plastic is all funky and scratchy as the right side is fine. The vct pids are even at idle and acceleration. It has a cassite oil filter, the oil is a quart and a half over filled but it looks recently changed. Im letting it cooldown so i can do some testing.
  8. Borrowed an IDS, did the same operation as i did with auto enginuity and it started right up. I sure miss the IDS.
  9. Ok, that clearified it. You can't always trust these wire diagrams. I just wanted to be sure. And no its most likely going to go to the dealer. Thanks.
  10. It has the theft light flashing and one key. Had another key cut and wont let me perform any functions after security access is finished going through on my auto enginuity. I keep getting weird messages like System Busy and System Error. Codes b1213 and 1601 are always present for each key and on the snapon scanner 1681 came up in memory codes only once. I checked the power and ground at the tranciever and both are good, even checked the ground at the a pillar and was good and tight. I get voltage key on while backprobing the grey orange and white lt. green. Here is the crazy thing, i go one step further and do a resistance test from c175b at the pcm to the tranciever, the grey orange wire is good 0 ohms, it is pin 42 at the pcm-ok. I then go to pin22 white lt. green from the tranciever to c175b and the cavity is Empty at c175b pin22. I find the white lt. green wire at pin 31 c175b. I do an audible resistance check to the tranciever pin3 and all is good. Now from what i understand another shop tried to program the keys and had the same issue with the error messages. The harness looks new. Im wondering if the harness was replaced for whatever and it was pinned wrong or my ShopKey PinPoint test has an error in the wire position for the white lt. green wire. That would be c252 pin3 to c175b pin22(assuming that is the location) circuit 1215 TX. Everything else seems to check out, battery, connections, grounds and even went so far as to jump the starter for the heck of it. Also in the wire diagram for the pats circuit in shopkey also shows the wt. lt. blue at pin 22 at the pcm. So i would like an oasis and a pin location verification from the ford evtm for the circuit in question. VIN-1mehm42187g614069 Thanks
  11. My customer's truck had stopleak in it. Another shop put it in for a leaky radiator and it took out the oilcooler. His 17 year old son wound up changing the oilcooler core and I had to pick up the loose ends after he finished the job.
  12. This is all good to know. The kit comes with all of the necesary stuff. I should know in a week or so if I will be doing it. If it don't sell at the auction that its been at for the last month or so. Can I use the same adapter to check compression as the 6.0?
  13. I wouldn't replace the iat, not necesary just clean it A few times I forgot to clean it and never had a problem.
  14. I wouldn't replace the iat, not necesary just clean it.
  15. yup, it's not being driven. Also i told them it would problobly need a connector hose. Any other things? Updated upper and lower hoses? DPF and Cat? EGR valve? Labor?
  16. I may be doing an egr cooler on this in the near future. its blowing white smoke and coolant from the tail pipe and i think it may be the lower cooler. Exactly what parts are needed to do the job properly in addition to the cooler? Also i cant find the labor time on shopkey. Thanks.
  17. I have once on an 08 e350. I got stuck on a test drive a few hours after posting about it,. The vref circuit was the cuase. Drove me nuts. Wound up replacing harness.
  18. I'm going to order the rest exept for the euro stuff. I'm happy with it but yeah its no ids.
  19. Yeah, I saw a video on youtube on how a large amount of buisinesses in the New Brunswick area shut there doors, supermarkets, garages etc. Scary stuff.
  20. Just had an 02 saturn vue with the 3.0 dohc german engine pissing coolant down the front and back of the.motor. The oil cooler cover had a hole in it. An 05 e350 6.0 box truck, rt. valvecover becuase the oil fill hole was mangled up-did it in the rain at night with one of my drunk customers hanging around me butching that.i should lower my labor price on.a job he wants done. Anyway did it in.just over an hour. Also got four rotors,.bearings radiator hoses, fanclutch, inner trans harness and fluid temp sensor and a good cooling system flush-took 3 days due to waiting for them to.deliver me the radiator hoses they ordered online. 07 dodge ram 3500 for a ujoint and.some diag. I will post about it, it's comeing back sunday night for an.abs light.and no speed with no comunication with the abs. Also they have to.spray.either to get it stsrted every time and it.runs fine and.doesnt shut off, it has a.5.9 in it,.i have no exp. with those but I will take a stab at it with shopkey info. Had an 07 f350 with a check.engine light and lacks power at times. The owner just put in a turbo. It had plenty of codes with.a ebp circuit code that kept coming on koeo. It was coroded inside, changed it and.code disapeared and lots of power, customer very happy. 96 monte with no air blowing out of vents, vacuum line repair. 92 lexus for all kinds of stuff and waiting on a hydro fan line. Got to put a rack in an 01 jetta when I get in. And doing timeingbelt, vtech solenoid.gasket, distributor seal, waterpump, rack, ps pump, high pressure line, tuneup, hoses and thermostat sunday night if he shows up.
  21. Just puttimg this idea out there for you guys.... indi shops are competing with you. So why.not compete with them Have a discussion with the other techs in your shops about doing maintenance and repairs on all makes and models. It's pretty much all cpo work exept for the occasional aftermarket warrenty customer. Sell coolant flushes, belts, sparkplugs, brakes,.tires,.alignments, timing belts. Run it by your sm's and owners. Same thing go's for the diesel stuff, oil changes, fiters, front end work, ujoints etc.. You will see your hours going up. But they will need to advertise.
  22. How much labor are you guys getting to r&r egr cooler and recondition the turbo?
  23. There were 5 when I was at lincoln tech in nj. The 4 of them were in my classes. One of the 3 was a married mom whos husband had a shop but didnt have the time to teach her the ins and outs, she painted the engines class walls with pretty flowers. Thother 2 used to spend more time makeing rounds sitting on the male students laps then practicing in the shop like wheel alignments and rack and pinions and such. One of them was in the diesel program. The 4th was a boyish short hair and glasses type, she had like 4.0 gpa-from what I remember, she was into it, participated and knew her stuff. I remember her complaining about going for interviews and nobody would call her for a job. I remember on the fmc boards there was a thread about being a tech and a mom and balancing out work, taking care of there kids, cooking etc. And one was saying she was a sr. master tech, did trans work and diesel. This was like ten years ago.
