  1. Yes and i told them that and a few weeks ago when this truck was first discussed. But they insist that i work on it or at least use all of the resources that i have at the moment. Really i'm only doing this in order to get all their other stuff in here. I can lift their wreckers with no problem and i can hear the mis on their f550. How about the adapter to check fuel pressure? Looks like i will be removing the valve covers sunday night and air testing it and all that other stuff. I told them if the ficm or idm is bad that they have no choice but to bring it to a shop that has the NETS. If i had at least 8 trucks like 650 or lcf as customers then i would purchase ids/nets setup. And if i get all of their chevys and gmc's here i definitly will get the tech 2 with out a doubt.
  2. I got a customer with this 04 flatbed. I think NETS is needed for this-right? This is my first time even touching a 650. Brief history, was hardly driven after head gaskets replaced by a "good tech"(not doubting) in their shop and he relaced all injectors as well. They tell me he's hard to reach or something like that becuase he works crazy hours at his job-which i can understand.....Anyway, before the head gaskets were done the mechanic working on it had to replace the high pressure pump for the second time after a local dealer replaced It and the low pressure pump also. Also forgot to ad he put a turbo in it-don't know if before the head gaskets or after and they didn't say if the coolers were done but i did see a fresh blue connector hose. I checked the basics, oil level is good, fuel filter is new and all ok in the filter bowl, oil filter looks good and the filter standpipe looks ok. Also when it runs it has a misfire (no poping noises or anything) and they told me the guy who worked on it scanned it and had a code for cyl. 1 and had the code before and after the injectors were replaced- they couldn't tell me if it was a contribution code or an elecrtcal code. If you unplug the egr valve you could get it to run every time but it will still stall and restart and run again. You cant drive it more than 5 feet. From the cluster guage the oil pressure goes right up. When you rev up the engine it will rev up fine and the oil pressure needle don't drop or check guages light did'nt come on. Yanking on the cranksensor takeout makes no difference when it's running or when it wont start nor the rest of the harness i could get my hands on. I don't want to tell these guys that i might have to remove the high pressure rails and high pressure pump to try to reinspect stuff like if the injectors were properly torqued or if the pump stc fitting is put on right or kinked at the branch tube or the condition of the injectors installed are ok or damaged some how or crappy aftermarket injectors......... or what kind of head gaskets were put on there. I hate to second guess another techs work but still-i did'nt do the work. Also is the the same adapter for the 550 and below used to check fuel pressure on this setup-looks like 7.3 fuel bowl? Also i don't see the icp on either valvecover-it was just getting dark and got dark when i checked it. I recomended 2 shops to them, 1 is a truck shop in the area that works on these properly and the other is a dealer in long island where i get parts but they don't want to go to these places. I want to help them because they have an f550 and like 25 chevys that need to be serviced and fit perfectly in my shop. So guys tell me what you think.

  4. Yeah, its the only way i would do it. Used to do tuaruses like that and you dont have to. This ones is problobly going to get a motor. Well see what the customer wishes to do. Thanks for the inputs.
  5. Ok so 20 hrs. + is safe.to say to for r&r the motor and another 4-5 to do heads if it only needs heads done, and justified by its age and rust.

  8. My customer has a 2011 e350 flexfuel 5.4l. He wants to install an inverter. Basicly he wants to keep his power tools charged up while he's driving and also keep a small air compressor plugged in to keep his high pressure water pump tank pressurized. With that all said, what is a decent inverter for this and would i have to install a heavier duty alternator?
  9. Yeah i think so because you cant get that connector i think. I've been replacing lots of connectors on eseries lately. Coolant temp, iat2, oil pressure-always and i ran out of them, vgt and ipr-just ran out of them and ebp-still got a few left. Those are the ones i was sure to snip off plenty but not the egr. And this is going to be the second egr plug im replacing since i left my last job for oil intrusion. Oil elbow came out of valve cover and oil everywhere.

  11. I need an egr valve plug takeout from a used harness badly. I left a crap load of harnesses at my last job.
  12. Check the power connections mounted on the inside of the battery box. Also check the power connection point on the chassis or the body, usually a foot in front of the battery box depending on the manufacturer. Problobly has alot of corosian.
  13. I think 2hrs. is justified for the harness alone.
  14. Yeah well this guy is really cheap and i had to give him a free diag just to sell the job or he would just keep driving it the way it was. I charged around 3 hrs. labor though. I also serviced it and rnr fuel filters for dirt cheap. He needs left front wheel bearings and he's going to drive it like that until the winter is over.
  15. It dont cancel cylinders and just now im having comunications issues with it. I just did a few things on an f350 and all of the sudden iall my pids went to 0 volts. Then it took me 4 tries to get it working again by shutting the program and finally i got communication by flexing the cable and then lost it a few minutes later. At least i got to check what i need to check but then lost comunication again. The cable is flimsy, dont wind it up and put it in your box. Hang the cable on the wall and wind it up loose or let it hang-it's super sensitive. I only got it in july. Im going to request that they send me a new free cable, shoiuldn't go bad so quick and i'm careful with it.

    E-Series Bracket

    I need the part number for the bracket that sits over the alternator and holds the cac tube and oil filltube in place. My good parts guy ran away. Thanks.
  18. 2011 f150 lariat 3.4l ecoboost. This thing is sweeet! It had a safety inspection and the customers picking it up in the morning and got it parked in the shop. 93 crown vic heatercore replacement, started at 5 and finished at 9. The core was fine but my customer insisted it was bad because of a little water on the passenger side under the dash. He said he smelled a coolant smell. He brought his own core from autozone. Im going to run a hose over the windsheild in the morning. Also got a mis at idle that goes away on accel that he didnt even care to complain about but tells me next time he comes here he wants me to repair/replace what evers needed to get his a/c working. and wants me to see why it's missing when i texted him about it. 94 t-bird 4.6l just sitting here, overheats after half a mile, needs left cyl. head and possibly right. customer is undecided what to do and problobly will take another few months to reach a decision. Just finihed upper alternator replacement and lower alt. harness replacement on 06 e350.
  19. Maybe the pintle on the vgt solenoid is all crapper up and sticking at times.
  20. I remember when the 06's were fresh off the truck and the transporters would bring it over from the yard a few miles away pinging and the guage pinned and no coolant in the motor because of broken lower radiator hose clamps at the radiator. I never saw one with engine damage as a result.
  21. I will recheck that in the morning, I got a 6.0 in the lot. I will call them and see if they can help me out with that but I didn't see the function for it. Also they initially told me it does power ballance on all ford stuff 96 and up exept for villager & 7.3's of coarse. Then when I checked on a 98 tracer it did not have that function in the scroll down list of tests. Then I called and the rep said that it don't do it on tracer/escorts but everything else ok. Then not on my customer's 01 expedition or my customer's 02 LS. I called and a rep told me that power ballance only works on the diesels and superduty/econoline gassers. Hopefully that will be an update. The pid data graph not nearly as good as ids but the pid numbers is what I use and the numbers are large and responsive-great for test drives. All that aside I'm glad I bought it and will update it soon to gm and chrysler.
  22. I got one, it's pretty good. It wont do power ballance on 01 expedition, 98 tracer, 02 lincoln ls and when i called to complain they told me something like it only does power ballance on the diesels and superduty gas engines and vans. And you cant cancel the cylinders out on 6.0 But other than that i can't complain too much because the price is right. I can't wait to put it to the key programming test.
