  1. It's a bit of work but maybe if you swap injectors and see if the -5.03 follows. Do you have the adapter to test compression?
  2. I should try it that way. Everyone i did with manifols on. Then again i hope i never have to pull a diesel on an eseries ever again. I leave the oilpan on and remove the drainplug it slides right in.
  3. Ahh ha, the snap off thing-that was what was wandering in the back of my mind.
  4. well thanks but this morning i looked through the caller ID and the guys number was gone. Going from the pictur it don't look too bad to do.
  5. Funny, in the company where I was at it's not your skills that get you up the ladder-nope it's what you are.
  6. Today I got a call asking me to replace the glowplugs in an 03 sprinter, I believe it was a 6 cylinder. I refused the job because I never worked on a sprinter or the like. From what I understand the head is aluminum. Can anyone tell me what is exactly involved in this job and how many hours labor? What are the dangers-if any. Maybe I will get the repair book and call the guy back. Thanks.
  7. Is it true that if it goes into the extended then customer has to pay half if under 100k and if over 100k then customer pays 3/4 of the total? i had an 06 sent to the dealer and it was just out of the 5 year from april and they told me that.
  8. I left that shity company that i was at for just over 3 years. I know if i stayed there i would have went nuts or wound up in a wheelchair or something. I cared about my job and got a small amount of combacks and they did'nt give a damn, the first manager and his replacement pushed me to injury. I just came in one saturday, handed in my keys and loaded up my boxes and took off. Now i work for me. You guys should do the same if your not happy about your work conditions or uncertain about your job security/raises etc. Just do it. You guys got major skills and if you leave then their loss. Who cares. Open your own shops and be your own bosses. Let your tools work for you.
  9. Right, thats what i told the customer. I did not physically check it but he insists over the phone he needs a processor and he wants me to get one for him.
  10. No, but i got a customer with a 99 f350 7.3 4x2 with no start & no communication and no check engine lt. when you turn the key on, i think the pcm.
  11. Yup Jim thats the one. I saw it on ebay for 300 but i'd figure to ask. Thanks again Bruce i problobly will order that one from IC. I fabricated an adapter from my gas fuel pressure guage kit but it leaks.
  12. Anyone got an extra one to sell with 6.0 banjo bolt included?
  13. I'm looking to get out of my place. We got a new shop manager worse than our last one. He is reckless to say the least. I wish i could tell the specifics but they made me sign a confidentiality statement after i was injured on the job. I hope somthing comes along.
  14. Speaking of employees brining small children in the shop. I worked at this one ford dealer with a stuck on stupid service manager. He let his 2 year old daughter wander around the shop. I was driving an f-550 flatbed from the rear yard through the shop to go out on a test drive. Good thing my instincts kicked in knowing that he was a moron-i drove it 2mph(knowing his kids were in the building) and like 15 feet ahead his kid wanders across the shop.
  15. I sold my snap on boxes and my matco years ago. Now i roll with a craftsman and a heavy duty snapon rollcart and it's just fine.
  16. Any codes, do you have spark? Inector pulse?
  17. Possibly lifter just on it's way out causing intermittent misfireing. I would take a look at the oilpump to see any evidence of metal just starting to get in there.
  18. I remember these having fuelpump issues, had a 96 or 97 once fouling up plugs and the fuel pump fixed it.
  19. I did not drive it when it came in because i was scared i would get stuck with it but i drove it today. It has a hollow sounding knock thats coming from the air intake tube area. It was running great until i got it on the highway then it sputtered a bit and then took off fine with a lot of power. Cruising good for about five miles until decelerating to the exit ramp it started to misfire. Check power ballance and cyl.2 dead as dead. Take off from a stop and the engine smoothes out. Drive a few more blocks and at a light and 2 dies again and 4 has a slight mis. This continues on and off all the way back to the shop, then in the shop it runs smooth. Relative compression tested 3 times and all 0. Ficm powers all check out good. Buzz test good. Also had a 27 degree span between temp. sensors. But i could'nt change out the oil cooler, we only have one and it's for emergency units. And so i'm told oil coolers are on national backorder until sometime this month? I changed the engine harness for an intermittant stall-crank no start concern this had for a while, the harness was chaffed really bad in one spot. I think it has some loose injectors-this seems to be an epidemic around here. I have seen whole banks go out like two months after replacing all 8(not me i torque them). Can also be failed injector/s maybe from overtightening or a bad stock?
  20. yeah, i don't really like John McCain all that much but i voted for him as a statement-also i live in New York which the majority vote is for the democrats.
