  1. After MY latest hooping with the one I short-blocked I'm seriously thinking about telling any 6.4L owner to FUCK OFF and don't bother me. Thanks to this latest hooping, this month and Christmas holidays are literally a complete write-off for me. I just lost almost two weeks pay on my mess.
  2. That's okay. Just keep telling your parts department to keep a good supply of 9E461 housings in stock along side of the 9D475s.
  3. After the 6.4L hooping I got on this latest short block episode, I think I'm DONE with working on 6.4Ls, and DONE with life altogether!!!!!!!!
  4. This is the exact reason why I always request parts by basic number (ie 9T517 NOT 9C968, 9A543 NOT 9350 etc....).
  5. It appears our "author" has provided us with the fully detailed "repair" procedure for our viewing pleasure: http://www.powerstroke.org/forum/attachm...r_procedure.pdf
  6. No rocket science here. It's all about the greedy owners and the mighty $$$$. Hey, SOMETHING has to pay for their Ford GTs, Bentleys and Ferraris, RIGHT?
  7. I'm assuming you are referring to the 366/427 engine. Did those engines use the same bellhousing bolt patterns that all other Chevy CAR/LIGHT TRUCK engines used, or are those unique to the medium duty truck application to accomodate the circular style patterns on truck trannies?
  8. As things now stand, Ford will only authorize a SHORT BLOCK for this mess. If you're in for a good laugh, have a good read of the hotline contact for this mess.
  9. Try "parts 'till it starts".
  10. Are you fuckin' kidding me?
  11. I'm sorry, but for that amount of money, I would've declined too. How much is it going to cost you, to see a chiropractor?
  12. ......and this is when I will throw in my I get more than my share of the "calls" from the indy shops that handle their fleets. It's gotten to the point where I don't even bother answering pages for phone calls anymore, given that I have to walk a half mile in either direction to take the call anyways. I figure if it's something important a message will be left for me anyways. Dwayne, don't think for a minute that these indy shops won't send business in our direction. Because THEY DO, if a particular repair is required is COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. How many times, do you guys see trucks darkening your doorsteps with brand spanking new brakes, ball joints and tires etc? But the blown coolers or the blown STC fittings getting sent to US. And now, with these 6.0L trucks' warranties expiring, you can damn well bet that we will be seeing far fewer of them now, unless it ends up at an indy shop for a driveability issue they can't figure out, and then end up on OUR doorstep, expecting only having to pay the one hour diag to "tell them what's wrong with it", so they can fix it themselves. Sorry for the rant, but this is starting to get under my skin a little.
  13. I may not have worked on as many 6.0Ls as perhaps most of the members here, but I AM well aware of how the high pressure oil system operates on these vehicles. Given that I see probably far fewer 6.0Ls (or any diesels for that matter) in my shop, let alone an even rarer '03 6.0L low ICP concern, I was hoping for some tips that would help expedite the process of the repair. This is assistance that would've been gladly returned if I were in a position to be of some help. But, anyhow a high pressure oil pump and updated cover later, and the truck is fixed. By the way, while I was waiting for parts to arrive, I devised my own "air pressure test" just to verify there are no leaks in any other areas of the high pressure oil system for those who care: Using a rubber tip blow gun, I applied shop air pressure directly into the branch tube. This method of course, requires removal of the HPOP but at least confirms that there are no other high pressure oil system leaks, leaving only the HPOP as the only possible source. This is also of course after you've verified there are no issues with the base lube oil system supply.
  14. I have no doubt in my mind that they WILL. As much as I hate to say it, it all comes back to the typical North American work ethic. There are far too many, who have this attitude that jobs are "owed" to them. As I'm sure these Mexicans will only be too happy to do a job that pays them $10 per hour, that would normally "demand" $30 per hour to someone on the homefront, we can thank union bullying for this as Bruce states. With the number of people needed for this operation, can you blame the manufacturers for relocating their jobs, once the math is done?
  15. If you put the vehicle on a drive-on style lift (or alignment rack), rock the vehicle back and forth in PARK. Put your hand on the fuel tank, and you'll "feel" the source of the noise originating from the tank itself like I did for this vehicle. The one thing that is great about this forum, is that I like to share and exchange information/fixes that apply to ALL FoMoCo vehicles, NOT just diesels.
  16. Makes me wonder who's been booted from more forums, Rex or Jim?
  17. It seems lately, that we've been getting our fair share of strange noise complaints from Edge owners lately. I just so happened to be the lucky recipient of one of these such complaints that I had difficulty attempting to pinpoint. The noise was a creaking (or squeaking) type noise that occured any time the vehicle went over bumps and/or the brakes were applied. After some "playing around" with it, I determined to source of the sound appeared to be originating from from the driver side front area of the fuel tank. Low and behold, upon dropping the tank, I found some witness marks inside, as you will see from the pics below: This shot was taken from the fuel pump/sender opening to give everyone a clear picture. As you can see, the fuel tank was partially full, and sloshing around inside tank under various sudden changes in vehicle movement, would cause the baffle to move around due to broken spot welds inside the tank. The other two shots are just there to give everyone better idea of which direction in which the photo shots were taken. Just thought I'd pass this information along, for those of you who might encounter a similar such complaint.
  18. And THAT is something I definitely agree with.
  19. If that's true, I'm sure a lot of female employees at my store drink BEER.
  20. Not to stray too far off topic, but let's not forget 07S49. Those of you not familiar, that's the recall for the jumper harness on the Escape Hybrids. The point being, I remember when the Hybrids debutted, Ford was adamant about not allowing us to open up any of the HV components. God knows with only 330 VDC, who the hell would want to!!! And now look, with that recall.
