.......unfortunately, common sense isn't so common to a lot of people.

I just had one in for a "general checkover" with a CEL on. When I went to retrieve the DTCs, I get P0606 Internal PCM failure and P1260 Theft Detected as the only DTCs. Now, this vehicle has had a history of having the IC replaced due to faulty gauges. Here's the kicker. According the HvBOM and Hotline, this particular vehicle is NOT equipped with PATs or anti-theft, yet both the original cluster and the replacement cluster came equipped with the flashing anti-theft indicator. The last repair (about eight months to a year ago) when the cluster was replaced, I couldn't start the truck, due to what I thought was a PATs issue (the theft light flashed fast). Other than what I've mentioned above, there are no issues, driveability or otherwise. Just curious if anyone else has run into something similar to this. Again, the vehicle is an '08 model year E-450.

Just curious, what are you guys charging to replace FICMs on F-Series trucks RETAIL? I seem to be getting a HIGH flow of them in through my shop lately.
-
Last set I did retail, I charged about 12 hours if I remember correctly.

Just curious. What are you guys charging your customers for labour to bleed brakes on Escape Hybrids, if it is outside of warranty? I'm talking about the procedure that requires use of the pressure/vacuum bleeder.

Picked up from Thorncrest. Thanks for the offer though.

20 gallons of unleaded fuel in a 6.4
mchan68 replied to 38ryr88's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
SVB 2008-30N 2008 Super Duty 6.4L - Service Tip - Fuel Tank filled with Gasoline, and the truck HAS been run; If a 2008 Super Duty equipped with the 6.4L diesel engine has been filled with Gasoline and has been driven, it is now recommended to perform the following: 1. Drain the fuel tank, dispose of the contaminated diesel fuel in an appropriate manner in conjunction with local laws and regulations 2. Fill with fresh clean good quality diesel fuel 3. Use the Low Pressure Fuel Pump to flush fresh clean diesel into the fuel system* 4. Replace the fuel filters (primary and secondary filters) 5. Replace ALL High Pressure fuel system components; High Pressure Fuel Pump, fuel lines (from fuel cooler to pump and also from fuel rails to injectors), fuel rails and ALL 8 injectors. 6. Use the fuel cooler bleed procedure in order to get the vehicle started 7. Change Oil and Filter and perform the High Pressure Fuel System test to verify for leaks, repair as necessary. 8. Perform SSM 19755 to clear any other air in the fuel system. 2008 Super Duty 6.4L - Service Tip - Fuel Tank filled with Gasoline, and the truck has NOT been run; 1. Drain the fuel tank, dispose of the contaminated diesel fuel in an appropriate manner in conjunction with local laws and regulations 2. Fill with fresh clean good quality diesel fuel 3. Replace the fuel filters (primary and secondary filters) 4. Use the Low Pressure Fuel Pump to flush fresh clean diesel into the fuel system* *Procedure required to properly flush the fuel system: Remove the rear Fuel Cooler Line that comes from the High Pressure Pump at the Fuel Cooler. Cut a 1/2" length of 3/8" rubber hose to seal the banjo bolt when re-installing into the Fuel Cooler without the fuel line attached. Place a larger hose over the return fuel line in order to direct the fuel into a suitable container. Use Active Commands or Cycle the key to allow the fuel pump to flush the lines. Plugging the Fuel Cooler during this process will prevent air from being introduced into the High Pressure Fuel System causing a no start. Failure to follow these procedures may result in fuel system and or engine damage. Repairs required due to use of improper fluids and fuel are not covered by the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. See Warranty and Policy Manual and Customer Information Guide for details. -
5C2Z-12B637-SA IS the correct number for this application (no EGR throttle plate wiring).
-
Unfortunately I don't have that luxury for the moment, seeing as how I have this pig tying up my bay minus a harness while all the other "shit" that's in for me is beginning to pile up outside.
-
Well, we ordered the 4C2Z-LA harness that arrived this afternoon. It was wrong This harness appears to have wiring for the EGR throttle plate (which no 2005 to 2007 model year 6.0L has). I guess that leaves 5C2Z-SA as the correct one by default. Just as a brainfart, the only two variations that come to my mind, are the EGR throttle plate (or lack of) and the main B+ junction behind the GPCM which 2006 and newer E-Series no longer have, if I remember right. Aaron, you ran into this issue awhile back if I remembered, correct?
-
Can anybody help me identify the correct engine harness to order for this piece of turd on wheels? Vehicle is a 2005 E-450 VIN# 1FDXE45P05HA22159. It lists either 4C2Z-12B637-LA or 5C2Z-12B637-SA as possible choices, dependent on the Navistar ID tag#. I can't seem to locate an ID tag on this vehicle anywhere, at least not anywhere that would make sense.

Well, I finally passed this test last night after I posted this thread. I guess the seventh or eighth time is the charm!
-
Just curious. Am I the only one having difficulty passing this course too? I must've attempted the mastery at least six times by now, and I keep getting 79% as my highest score. I realize there are only 14 questions, which doesn't leave you too many to get wrong but FUCK!!! I managed to breeze through the other three 34S30W0, 34S31W0 and 34S33W0 courses without difficulty, but this last one is really getting to be quite the thorn up my ass!!!

High Pressure Pump Harness Shorted
mchan68 replied to joshbuys's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Reading posts like this makes me REALLY GLAD that I don't see any 6.4Ls darkening my doorstep for any driveability or starting concerns. The only 6.4L stuff I have under my belt to date are, rads, a couple of EGT_13s and couple of EGR valves. Hardly makes me a 6.4L guy. -
I was just strolling through some YouTube vids, and came across this: Interestingly, while this kid is stirring through the gears, the familiar sound of that IHC 345 gasser whining away, brings back memories of riding that yellow bus that was so euipped. Anyone on this forum old enough to have actually wrenched on one of these puppies before?
-
Now that you mention it, yes I have had a couple 7.3L trucks in with failed TR sensors too awhile back. The ones I've had were no-starts though, due to the PCM not "seeing" P or N.
-
That's what I was thinking too. According to the customer, it IS part of the factory drive belt routing.
-
Has anyone seen this yet? Unit has only 10 kms. Not even sold yet!
-
Not that it matters, but the VIN is 1FTWW32P14EE06754.
-
I'll try to dig up the VIN for you. All I know so far, is that this is a dual alternator equipped truck, WITHOUT the second alternator installed. Customer states that there IS aftermarket equipment installed independently of the factory front end accessory drive. Last night the parts manager and I tried looking through HvBOM and every possibility listed in Microcrap without success.

....and who paid for the blown up engines?

Can anyone come up with the correct part number for this pulley illustrated below? Pulley diameter is about 2-3/4" with a spacer behind it approximately 1" long. Thanks in advance.
