  1. And then we wonder why FoMoCo puts us under a lot of scrutiny for high dollar 6.0L repairs. I guess we can thank guys like this for the BS we now have to go through.
  2. Cab removal on any '04 to current body style F-150s are a breeze in my opinion, in that NOTHING on the interior of the vehicle needs to be touched. I don't even bother with the cab-to-frame bolts on these trucks. I remove the two 15mm nuts on each mount, and raise the cab with the mounts still bolted to the cab.
  3. Try cleaning out IAT #2 of all carbon and retest.
  4. Here is yet another aftermarket outfit, offering a "bulletproof" alternative to stock EGR/oil coolers. http://www.bulletproofdiesel.com/default.html
  5. Do you have GOOD compression braking in manual 1st? Broken LOW/REVERSE bands are pretty common to fail on those 5R55E trannys.
  6. What engine 4.0L SOHC V6 or 5.0L V8? Does vehicle operate in reverse?
  7. I too, have seen some '05 model years with this too, but no newer than '05.
  8. Especially at my store where I am the ONLY diesel tech, I'd be interested in knowing if I'm short-changing myself. It's hard to figure out what to charge RETAIL for some 6.0L repairs, which seems to have been happening fairly frequently on my doorstep lately. .......an '04 E-350 just rolled in with both coolers puked and I'm trying to figure out what to hit this guy for labour. This thing has rear heat-A/C.
  9. My sentiments exactly. I personally can't see this vehicle becoming much of a hit in the North American market for many reasons. First and foremost, all I see is a Focus drivetrain being the ONLY choice as its biggest flaw. This in itself is going severely limit its load carrying capacity. Examining it more closely, left me with the impression that this vehicle will likely suffer the same fate as the XR4Ti, Scorpio, Contour and Mystique IMO. In a nutshell, I definitely don't see this vehicle REPLACING the E-Series.
  10. Yes, I too would be very interested in knowing what the hooping will be in labour hours RETAIL to the customer for this, seeing as how I have ZERO 6.4L experience.
  11. And right you are Aaron. Long story short, the truck I had in question had SIX non-responsive injectors that passed the buzz test. I was able to verify the circuits with my "noid light" tester plugged into the non-responding injector connectors. Heres the thread, which sounds very similar to your situation:http://www.forddoctorsdts.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=22341#Post22341
  12. I was fooling around on the internet and I happened upon THESE interesting photos. I wasn't aware that Dodge has EVER manufactured medium duty trucks later than 1977, until I happened upon the pictures above. Just curious. Does any one know of these trucks? The specs, interiors etc.? If the 5.9L Cummins engines are used in the 2500/3500 Series trucks, I wonder what's under the hood of these puppies. How about trannies? I'm assuming Allison would have to be the supplier. Anyone care to comment, enlighten me, or provide more detailed photos?
  13. Well, I guess now would be a good time to upgrade to the 2004 and newer style water pump and front cover assembly, if the customer is willing to spend to coin. If not, throw a pump in it, and call it a day.
  14. So this is a 2004 truck with a 2003 as I understand it. How is the water pump flow?
  15. With all this discussion on IAT #2's purpose, the only time I've ever remembered it being of any significance, was back when 06E17 was released. Shortly after, there were numerous owner complaints of driveability issues relating to bogging. What was found, was the EGR valve cycling quite erratically, including one vehicle that had come back for three visits before I could fix (back when I was "green" to fixing diesels, which I could still argue that I AM still "green"). Sure enough, cleaning off IAT #2 fixed the issue permanently. I vaguely recall a drastic increase the IAT #2 response to EGR valve being commanded open, as I was monitoring the PIDs. Just my
  16. I hope this job is retail, and hope you're charging EXTRA time for all the bullshit under the hood. What will you be charging, if it turns out to be the dreaded cracked exhaust up-pipe to the turbo?
  17. I tried calling the 1-800 numbers and the exact words from the person on the other line were, "there IS a way to obtain it, but I can't find anyone who knows how....."
  18. Is your dealer on Reynolds & Reynolds or ADP? If Reynolds & Reynolds, point the cursor to the part, highlight and right-click and it will load up onto the list with the part number. But I'm sure your parts guys know this already.
  19. Yes, I remember that incident quite well, thank you very much. I think even the US president had publicly apologized for that one. We were being asked not to retaliate when it came time to play on our turf, if I recall correctly. That was the same year the Toronto Maple Laughs had their best playoff season too.
