  1. And once it's filtered 150, it stops filtering and lets everything in!!
  2. That's just Ford's way of saying "I don't know why it's doing that, we'll look into it and issue a recall/tsb later." Haven't seen them myself, but then again, I don't live in the frigid cold!
  3. Had one in a while back, the guy replaced the tensioner himself, and was having some drive issues (2 completely unrelated incidents), he couldn't figure out why the belt wouldn't tighten up, so he used a bunch of washers and nuts to space the alternator up off the intake about 1" to take up the slack! HILARIOUS!!!! Wish I had gotten some pictures!
  4. I bent 2 pushrods 1 time - can't even count how many head gaskets I had done prior to this without issue, and without clocking the motor to the 6 o'clock position, since then, every motor gets clocked to the 6 o'clock position, and I haven't had a problem since!!
  5. did it once on a head gasket job, done tons previously without a problem, but once did basically the same thing on cylinder 8 exhaust rocker, had to put a new rocker on it! OOPS!!
  6. Had one at my dealer before I worked here, picture this, we're right next door to a hotel, and right off the I-80 freeway, there's some sort of fire fighter conference going on at the hotel, and one runs away in the back lot, smokes out the freeway and everything, bunches of firemen come over to see what's going on, turns out some guy from the EPA was on the freeway, so he came over to see what was going on, he tells my manager "you need to shut that thing down" manager tossed him the keys to it and said "here's the keys, you shut it down" I guess it finally grenaded!
  7. 6007A28 for a 6.0L There is no labor operation for compression check on a 6.4L, we normally use the R&R All glow plugs labor op (12342D1T) plus some m-time.
  8. From the desktop at the house - new fiber optic/cable network
  9. SEIC (Stationary Elevated Idle Control) may be worth looking into for these customers. It WILL NOT allow the truck to run through regen, but can help reduce the amount of soot accumulation both in the DPF and in the engine itself and can be acheived by following a few simple instructions in the bulletins located on www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas
  10. I don't ever want to see that power opening systems course again!! What a pain!!!!
  11. Agreed, but I feel so much better after diagnosing something properly and knowing that if they took it elsewhere, they would find the same thing, than if I were to just "shotgun" a repair!!
  12. A guy I know that used to work at my old Ford dealer had one come to him from an indy shop - tool broke off in the plug....he came up with this GENIUS idea....had a tool made, ground it out, then used his tool to complete the extraction....AMAZING!!
  13. yeah, tried using blocks of wood like they showed us in class to get them aligned....had to resort to using a block of wood to stand one on end, and then hammer them together!!
  14. I've experienced the same issue....tried making new studs out of some all thread....same results when another tech used the new all thread studs. dead blow hammer works wonders!!
  15. I believe it, but when I bought mine, snap-on wasn't selling it yet.
  16. IPR socket that was mentioned is 54 bucks at carquest, turbo socket is only available from snappy as far as I know.
  17. Carquest has been selling the same socket for about 6 months now, 54 bucks and it works wonderfully!!
  18. Excellent find Jim, Thank You!!!!
  19. I'd heard they were going to discontinue the diagnostic sheets - which will allow them to pay us less diag time, inturn cutting their repair expenses and increasing our "donation" time!! THANKS
  20. That's correct Bruce, it's the same adapter as the 6.0
  21. I do the battery the same way for a compression test with the cab off. I've compression tested #7 with the cab on, if you pull the wheel well you can go behind the lower part of the heater box for relatively easy access, and using the glowplug lineup tool makes it real easy to do. But it's certainly easier with the cab in the air!
  22. I was actually wondering the same thing, but then I've had several with absolutely no debris, so did i mistakenly clean the threads first on those? Maybe I'll start brake cleaning the threads on the fuel rail before performing this test in the future....
