  1. Alignment.....is that really necessary?!?! Sounds like more work than it's worth seeing as how I can have the trans out in 25 min
  2. pull the fuel pressure regulator back off and verify none of the seals are rolled/missing....
  3. I tried on the first one I did to get it out w/out pulling the trans, and I couldn't do it. I would recommend pulling the cab if you can't lift it, pulling trans on floor sucks if you don't have much room under truck. Another possibility might be putting truck on jack stands (if you've got some that can handle it's weight) so that you've got room to pull the trans.
  4. NEVER SEEN ONE LEAKING, SEEN A COUPLE TURBO DRAINS LEAKING.
  5. Yeah, I noticed it must be around 8' when I was at class. Gonna need a good stout tranny jack to get that one out!
  6. I'm gonna have to agree with Keith on this one, everyone I've seen with a melted piston had scoring to the cylinder wall, of course, the ones I've seen, got driven til they wouldn't pull themselves before they were brought to me....
  7. Thanks Jim....that pretty much sums it up!!!!
  8. Hmmmmm.....maybe I should get that spare key made that I've been putting off.....Only got one for mine, and *knock on wood* I haven't lost it....
  9. Home heads use a T45 injector hold down bolt and M10 Rocker Bolts, and some use a T40 and M8. These different bolts mean different machining! THIS is what you really need to be looking at! Here's the TSB that will help you to determine what you need.
  10. OUR CATALOG SHOWS THE SAME - PRODUCTION SPLIT - 8-2-04 - 11-4-04 ONLY CHRA AVAILABLE - AFTER 11-4-04 COMPLETE ASSEMBLY AVAILABLE - 5C3Z-6K682-CARM
  11. GOT ONE IN MY STALL NOW, DID ALL THE CHECKS YESTERDAY AFTERNOON, GOT APPROVAL THIS MORNING FOR A PUMP - P0088, P2269 - NO METAL DEBRIS IN SYSTEM - HAD OVER 26,000 PSI WITH ONLY 19,000 PSI DESIRED....
  12. ALSO, PER WSM THE TURBO IS NOT REMOVED DURING HPP OR HPP GASKET REPLACEMENT, SO THE 9T514 TURBO SEAL KIT SHOULD FALL UNDER THE "DEPENDING ON REPAIR" CATEGORY.
  13. BOTTOM REAR STUD ON LEFT HAS TO BE PUT IN WITH HEAD/ROCKER BOX, ALL OTHERS YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET IN ONCE THE HEADS ARE IN POSITION ON THE DOWEL PINS. GOOD LUCK ON EDIT: ALSO IF YOU LOOSEN ALL THE BODY MOUNT BOLTS, YOU CAN LIFT THE FRONT OF THE CAB HIGH ENOUGH TO PUT A 4X4 BETWEEN THE FRAME AND THE FRONT OF THE CAB WHICH WILL GIVE YOU A LITTLE MORE ROOM IF YOU'RE MOTIVATED AS SUCH. IT CAN BE DONE WITHOUT THE NEW ADAPTER TOOL FROM SNAP ON, BUT THE ADAPTER LOOKS LIKE IT'LL MAKE IT MUCH EASIER ON THAT REAR BOLT/STUD. I ALWAYS OPT FOR PULLING THE EVAPORATOR CASE (TAKES ME 15 MINUTES AND MAKES SOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH ROOM ON THE RIGHT!
  14. CHECKED FOR PRICES TODAY, AND THEY'RE NOT IN OUR CATALOG YET.
  15. Saw one recently that had rubbed through the cooler for the secondary cooling system (mounted on the side of the CAC) and burned up the pump - this was a couple months after a rad was put in it....that's the only one I've seen that needed a pump.
  16. In these instances, carefully heating the cage nut from the inside has proved to work well for me.
  17. +1! There is absolutely no excuse for not calling the service manager out on this or even going over his head to the GM! I'm not trying to judge you, maybe you did this, but as professionals there are lines and standards that MUST be maintained!!
  18. Good point Bruce, I had the same thought after I posted my last statement
  19. Got my CTB in class today, be looking for them if you've already been to class and didn't get one!
  20. must be, they use a sand mixture here instead of salt, so we don't GET to deal with as much of that rust stuff as the rest of you!
  21. +1, Can get to any of the spun cage nuts in no time with a ratchet or cheap cut off 22mm wrench and zip them out in no time, can generally have a cab in the air in a little over an hour.

  23. I'm in class the 6-8, I'll make myself a note to ask if it's going to stay, as I stated before, they put this code in the programming for the 08 6.4, but removed it from programming for the 09/10 6.4's. be curious to see if they stick to it this time. Maybe they were just experimenting with it on the 6.4?
  24. What pages are the DTC's on? I don't go to class 'til next week, so I don't have the hard copy yet. I've looked through the online version a couple times and don't see any DTC's and so I thought maybe there was a different version on FMC, but they've got the same one up there that we have here....
