  1. We have been in the process of waiting on gaskets for the turbo but the customer has said the check engine light has not come on and has been driving it since Friday with no problems.
  2. Keith- The wastegate does move when commanded. I checked all the vacuum lines and connectors that I could see and found no damage or leaks. mchan- After the wastegate replacement and adjustment the check engine light came back on. I rechecked the wastegate and it still was in spec at 8.5 inhg. That's when I contacted hotline they came to the conclusion of replacing the turbo.
  3. I forgot to mention that I did perform those TSBs and pcm is at latest calibration. There was no exhaust leaks or damage. The wastegate actuator has been replaced and the adjusted according to the specs which are 8.3inhg-10 inhg for wastegate first movement. I adjusted it and it starts moving at 8.5 inhg. Contacted the hotline again and step KA16 was performed while on the phone and the MAP and EBP do not change when commanding the VGT open and closed. Hotline told me to test wiring and if that passes to replace turbocharger assembly. Tested the circuit and everything passes. Hopefully the turbo fixes this concern.
  4. Actually I believe I have had about an equal amount of injectors fix electrical concerns as I have UVC harness.
  5. I have a truck that was given to me when another tech was out sick with a check engine light. Codes P0471 and P132B. Followed pinpoint test for P0471 and ended with replacing EBP sensor which wasn't fun tucked away in the back. Cleared codes and retested and system passed. Test drove and let customer have vehicle. When the customer starts vehicle the check engine light pops on. Again codes p0471 and P132B. This time I follow pinpoint test KA per hotline and come to the conclusion that the wastegate actuator has a leaking diaphragm because it does not hold vacuum with the hand pump. Contacted Hotline by phone and they agreed to replace the wastegate and retest. Wait a day for the wastegate and off with the upper intake and wastegate actuator. Adjust the new one and reassemble. Cleared codes and retested system passes. Test drove and again check engine light returns. Again codes P0471 and P132B. Now I'm at a loss here. I know most of us have not had a chance to do to much diagnosis on these new engines but if anyone has ran into a problem with these codes any help would be appreciated. Truck runs fine and has plenty of power but that those two codes keep setting.
  6. When it comes to the electrical codes on the 6.4 I always check all the wiring and plug in a test injector before replacing anything. I have had a few that UVC harness fixed the concern. I have had some that injectors fixed the concern and I have had one that the PCM fixed the concern.
  7. I was going to say check for combustion gases in fuel but you said you have it running now.
  8. According to hotline an overfueling injector will not cause the crankcase to overfill. I have seen injectors leak externally and HP fuel pumps leak externally as well.
  9. I have had success using a butane torch on all but the front two bolts. I use oxy-acetylene on the front two. I take the headlights out and applied the heat for a few seconds and zip them out with a 3/8 impact.
  10. 3 psi on the boost test is too much in my opinion. What is your MGP going down the road?
  11. I'm with Bruce. I have seen a few alternators draining the batteries.
  12. This is what I have always been told until I got to the shop I'm at now. They say the diag sheets are just for reference but I still attach them to every RO just in case.
  13. Same thing happened to me with the rods bending. Now all of them get reassembled using the deadblow.
  14. Yeah we have torches and they get used more on 6.4 body bolts but rarely on rusted nuts and bolts. The PB blaster got used alot today along with the torch.
  15. So I'm down here in Texas and a truck from Canada finds it's way down here and needs a fuel tank. So I dive in and start working and I forgot how things like to rust up north and let me tell you I had a few words for Canada while under this rusted POS. Nothing personal towards anyone from Canada but now I know what you all have to deal with daily and I'm glad trucks down here don't get rusted like they do up north.
  16. At least all the fuel system I have been doing have stopped for a little while. We were getting at least 5 a week for about 3 months.
  17. Speaking of back order parts, is it true that the high pressure fuel pump is now on back order? Our parts guy says we only have one in stock and that they don't know when they are going to restock.
  18. I have seen alot of these lately. Replaced the broken rocker arms and checked for correct valve train operation. I have had no problems just replacing the broken parts yet. I have ran into a few were there was lifters that were damaged but cam was ok. Replaced lifters and rocker arms. Now we are seeing alot coming in where the tips are badly worn and digging into the bridges and all the rocker arms are loose and about to fall off it appears. These engines are absolute crap and I had someone tell me the other day that he wished he would of kept his 6.0 liter.
  19. Unfortunately every shop I have been to has had the block off tools stolen so air is the only way to go for me.
  20. I have seen this 4 times all on ambulance which were not fun to work on. It is actually a known concern. They break flush with the head and I only had luck getting one of them out. Those bolts are a pain to drill out. Two we sent to a machine shop to remove and the other ended up getting the head replaced because neither us or the machine shop could remove it without damage.
  21. A good way to check for the pump leaking internally is to either remove the oil feed tube that goes to the turbo or remove the oil filter. If air comes out of any of them the pump is bad. Anytime I have seen air coming from the base oil system when air testing has always been the pump.
  22. From reading your post it sounds like your HPOP took a dive. Everytime I have seen air coming from the base oil when air testing is the HPOP messed up internally.
  23. I have used a butane torch on the back bolts with good results but the front bolts need the flame wrench in order to work. I have been lifting so many cabs lately that I don't bother with the wrenching out by hand method anymore.
  24. Alot of parts are made in different countries. The flexible fuel line that has been on backorder forever now is made in China and Ford told us that themselves. I'm surprised the uv harness is made in China because most of the harnesses we get down here are Hecho En Mexico.
  25. I don't usually have any problems when using relative compression test. It's not always accurate but it has been useful to me many times in pinpointing problem cylinders.
